In 2007, Knowles began to record music again. Her second studio album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008) deviated from the pop-oriented music of her debut to Motown-inspired sounds from the 60's and 70's. It peaked at number nine on the US Billboard 200 and received positive reviews from critics. She followed this up with the 1980s pop and R&B-inspired EP True (2012) on Terrible Records and her imprint Saint Records. Her third studio album, A Seat at the Table (2016) was released to widespread critical acclaim and became her first number-one album in the United States. The album's lead single, "Cranes in the Sky" won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Her fourth studio album, When I Get Home, was released in March 2019 to further critical acclaim.
Knowles was heavily influenced by Motown girl groups and says that her first passion is songwriting. Frequently compared by the media to her sister Beyoncé, Knowles has claimed that they have different aspirations and are musically different. She has been ranked by Billboard as the 100th most successful dance artist of all-time, and in 2017 was honored with the "Impact Award" at Billboard Women in Music. Her other ventures include an endorsement deal with Rimmel London and a line of hip-hop-oriented merchandise for young children.
Where Do We Go
Solange Lyrics

Turn off your headlights tonight
Don't drive the road too slow
Don't look too close tonight
This used to be ours
This used to be you and I's
What used to be mine
Say your goodbyes
And I don't know where to go
No, I don't know where to stay
Where do we go from here?
Do you know?
Where do we go from here?
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, ha ha
We bowed our heads
We broke our bread that night
Shook our hands
Then conquer and divide
This used to be home
This used to be what we know
What used to belong
Now good and gone
And I don't know where to go
No, I don't know where to stay
Don't know where to go
And I don't know where to stay
Where do we go from here?
Do you know?
Where do we go from here?
Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, ha ha
The lyrics to Solange's song "Where Do We Go" describe a sense of uncertainty and loss following a breakup or separation. The opening lines advise the listener to "turn off your headlights tonight" and "don't look too close" as they navigate a familiar road, suggesting the need for distance and detachment in order to move on. The repetition of the phrase "This used to be ours" emphasizes the past nature of the relationship and the need to let go.
The second verse continues this theme, describing a previous moment of unity ("We bowed our heads / We broke our bread that night") followed by division ("Then conquer and divide"). The line "What used to belong / Now good and gone" further emphasizes the feelings of loss and separation. The repeated refrain of "Where do we go from here?" conveys a sense of aimlessness and uncertainty about the future.
Overall, the lyrics to "Where Do We Go" convey a sense of emotional turmoil and the difficulty of moving on from a relationship. The use of familiar imagery, such as a familiar road and a shared meal, underscores the sense of loss and nostalgia for what once was.
