Ag seoladh na ngamhna fén bhfásach
Do dhearcas chugamsa an spéirbhean mhaisiúil
Chiúin thais bhanúil náireach
D'fhiasraíos féin go séimh dhen ainnir
An aon ní thar lear a tháinig
Ag seoladh na ngamhana 'sea dh'fhágas as baile
Ach ceann ní bhfaighidh go lá dhíobh
Tá crainnín cumhra i lúb na coille
'Gus raghaimid araon go lá fé
Mar a mbeidh ceol binn na n-éan dá síorchur a chodladh
Is cuileann is eidhneán ag fás air
Gheobhainn cead saor ó mhaor na coille
Féar a thabhairt go lá dhíobh
Más ag scarúint óna chéile atá chugainn ar maidin
Seo póg agus bairrín beag mo láimh chugat
Is b'fhéidir le hÍosa fá Oíche Nollag
Go mbeimid araon in ann pósadh
I seoimrín néata ag pointe an ghleanna
'S an Sagart ag ól ár sláinte
Beidh beoir againn go líonmhar go fuíoch gan dochma
Is gloine dhen fíon dhonn Spáinneach
Beidh puinse againn á roinnt le linn dul a chodladh
Is gheobhaimid na gamhna amárach
Beidh puinse againn á roinnt le linn dul a chodladh
Is gheobhaimid na gamhna amárach

"Seoladh Na Ngamhna" is a traditional Irish song performed by Solas. The lyrics talk about a person sailing alone on a late afternoon and spotting a beautiful and modest lady in the distance. The lady appears to be a noblewoman who has left her home to sail across the sea. The singer is curious about her and wonders where she's going, but at the same time, he admires her calm, dignified, and bashful behavior. He then turns his attention to the forest, where he and his lover will meet on a later day. He imagines the sweet harmonies of birds singing and the gradual growth of hazelnut and ivy. He anticipates the taste of free grass, as he attains permission from the forest owner to harvest said grass.
The lyrics suggest a sense of longing for love, nature, and freedom. The singer does not know the lady and is merely observing her from afar, but he feels an instant connection with her. He is also looking forward to spending time with his lover in the forest, experiencing the beauty of nature and anticipating a good harvest. The song evokes emotions of serenity, admiration, and hopefulness, among other things. The lyrics are poetic and heartfelt and lend themselves beautifully to interpretation.

Tráthnóinín déanach is mé gan mhairg
It is the late afternoon and I am without sorrow
Ag seoladh na ngamhna fén bhfásach
Sending the cattle to the wilderness
Do dhearcas chugamsa an spéirbhean mhaisiúil
I saw the gracious lady of the sky coming to me
Chiúin thais bhanúil náireach
Quiet, gentle, modest shame
D'fhiasraíos féin go séimh dhen ainnir
I asked softly of the gentle maiden
An aon ní thar lear a tháinig
The only thing that came from afar
Ag seoladh na ngamhana 'sea dh'fhágas as baile
Sending the cattle and leaving home
Ach ceann ní bhfaighidh go lá dhíobh
But one will not get back until the day of them
Tá crainnín cumhra i lúb na coille
There is a fragrant little tree in the curve of the wood
'Gus raghaimid araon go lá fé
And we will both go until day falls
Mar a mbeidh ceol binn na n-éan dá síorchur a chodladh
Like the sweet music of birds putting themselves to sleep
Is cuileann is eidhneán ag fás air
There are holly and ivy growing on it
Gheobhainn cead saor ó mhaor na coille
I would get a free pass from the forest keeper
Féar a thabhairt go lá dhíobh
To give grass to them until their day
Más ag scarúint óna chéile atá chugainn ar maidin
If we are parting from each other in the morning
Seo póg agus bairrín beag mo láimh chugat
Here is a kiss and a little ring I give to you
Is b'fhéidir le hÍosa fá Oíche Nollag
And perhaps with Jesus on Christmas Eve
Go mbeimid araon in ann pósadh
We will both be able to marry
I seoimrín néata ag pointe an ghleanna
In a neat room at the point of the valley
'S an Sagart ag ól ár sláinte
And the priest drinking our health
Beidh beoir againn go líonmhar go fuíoch gan dochma
We will have plenty of lively beer without harm
Is gloine dhen fíon dhonn Spáinneach
And a glass of Spanish brown wine
Beidh puinse againn á roinnt le linn dul a chodladh
We will have a bountiful slice to share as we go to bed
Is gheobhaimid na gamhna amárach
And we will get the cattle tomorrow
Beidh puinse againn á roinnt le linn dul a chodladh
We will have a bountiful slice to share as we go to bed
Is gheobhaimid na gamhna amárach
And we will get the cattle tomorrow
