Neither Time Nor Tide
Solstice Lyrics

Mad at the sun
He wanders defeated
Through cities of dust
Amidst frustration
Like so many dreams
Of saints and sinners, none could percieve
Face the adversary, with rage inside
Nothing can erase, neither time, nor tide
Dark is the heart
That could not feel
The silent screams
Grieving sentinal
Eye among the blind
Holds salvation
Ravaged paradise
Torn are the skies
In oblivion
Orchid of happiness
Never to bloom
Blessed with his tears
The lyrics to Solstice's song "Neither Time nor Tide" are evocative and haunting, telling a multi-layered story of loss, regret, and redemption. The song opens with the image of a lone narcissist who is "mad at the sun," wandering defeated through cities of dust. This figure represents someone who is deeply self-involved and resentful of forces beyond their control. The chorus suggests that no matter how fierce his rage or how deeply his pain, neither time nor tide can erase his suffering.
The middle section of the song speaks to the fall from grace that we all experience at some point in our lives. The lyrics describe the frustration of "dreams of saints and sinners" that are never fully realized and the sense of being adrift and alone. The verses circle back to the idea that facing one's adversary (in this case, time and fate) requires a fierce inner strength that can sustain us through even the darkest times.
The final verse of the song introduces the image of a grieving sentinel who holds salvation in a ravaged paradise. This figure represents hope in the midst of despair, a beacon of light that can lead us through the darkest times. The final line, "blessed with his tears," suggests that even in our moments of deepest sorrow, there is a potential for transcendence and transformation.
