Wintermoon Rapture
Solstice Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
this endless quest for sanctuary pure
as formless levithans swim avernian seas
crystal citadels call me in my dreams
desolate epochs, the statues they weep
through eons passing, the guardians still sleep
the towers of silence
a fortress of strength
would ease my descent
my heart greets forests, once sacred, profane
the earth my mistress in pleasure and pain
seeking solace in the glory that was
of hidden shrines to gods now lost
amongst hopes ruins to find my true place
I orphaned of heritage a man of no race
cleanse my wounds in winter moon desire
this endless quest for sanctuary pure
drown nights sorrow, in rapture divine
enchantment delirium, and yet do I seek
winter moon rapture, the ebb of her light
but I cannot see, for the tears in my eyes
winter moon rapture, the ebb of her light
The lyrics of Solstice's song Wintermoon Rapture give a vivid description of the singer's yearning for a sense of belonging in a world that he feels alienated from. The opening lines, "cleanse my wounds in winter moon desire, this endless quest for sanctuary pure," depicts the singer's desire for spiritual and emotional healing from the pains of life. He seeks a sanctuary that is pure, away from the corruption and chaos of the world.
In the following lines, "as formless levithans swim avernian seas, crystal citadels call me in my dreams," the singer depicts a sense of longing and a need for guidance. The lyrical description suggests the abyssal depths of his psyche and the dormant power he believes lies within him. The statues that weep in "desolate epochs" indicate the passage of time, and the guardians who still sleep suggest a sort of stagnancy, echoing the singer's feelings of helplessness in the face of his alienation.
The theme of alienation is further emphasized in the lines, "I orphaned of heritage a man of no race...amongst hopes ruins to find my true place." These lyrics suggest the singer does not feel connected to his cultural heritage or any particular group, and he feels lost in a world where he does not belong. The repeated line, "cleanse my wounds in winter moon desire, this endless quest for sanctuary pure," shows an ongoing desire for spiritual and emotional healing, which is the central theme of this song.

great track, great band, but i still believe the vocals are irrelevant and out of place in the whole album.maybe just some doom-death vocals would have been better for this band.
