Let's Get Tired!
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We just feel like sleeping in and eating in and staying home.
Couldn't get worked up about anything,
We could plan things out but we'll be tired of each other so soon.
We got bored so we'd do drugs and waited for things now
Sometimes it feels nice to give up
Couldn't get worked up about anything,
We could plan things out but we'll get tired of each other so soon.
Sometimes it feels nice to give up,
Give you up, give up you now.
The song Let's Get Tired! by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin speaks to the exhaustion and monotony of everyday life. Rather than working, the singer would much rather stay in bed all day, eat, and relax at home. They speak to the futility of planning things out, as they will inevitably tire of each other and grow bored. In response to this boredom, the singer's solution is to use drugs and wait for things to happen, rather than actively seeking out new experiences.
The chorus of the song, "Couldn't get worked up about anything, we could plan things out but we'll be tired of each other so soon," speaks to the sense of hopelessness and apathy that the singer feels towards their life. They seem resigned to the fact that they will never be truly satisfied or fulfilled, and that any attempts to plan or organize their lives will ultimately be fruitless. The repetition of the line "Sometimes it feels nice to give up," further emphasizes this sense of resignation and suggests a desire to simply let go and stop trying to control their life.
