Pangea
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's always something
It's always something
You told a lie, just aside of feeling nothing
You spend yr Sundays, avoiding trouble
While underground there's a whirlpool humming

Don't say I never, you know it's nothing
I've seen your hands man they couldn't be whiter
So send a wire, write a letter,
Let me know if your there and if your hearts still thumping

Pangea we used to be together, why'd we have to drift apart
Pangea we used to be together, why'd we have to drift apart

Get up, and get out

Don't say I never, you know it's nothing
I've seen your hands man they couldn't be whiter
Send a wire, write a letter,
Let me know if your there and if your hearts still thumping

Pangea we used to be together, why'd we have to drift apart
Pangea we used to be together, why'd we have to drift apart

Oh oh, and it sounds much better, when sound comes together
If you get this letter, keep it in a box
With all my sox you lost and you found
You used to be around,
Tell me why'd we have to drift apart

Overall Meaning

The song "Pangea" by Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin portrays a feeling of sadness and confusion over a lost connection between two people who used to be together. The lyrics suggest that the singer had discovered a lie, but didn't confront the person about it. Instead, they avoided trouble and hoped to maintain their relationship. However, the two eventually drifted apart, and now the singer is left wondering why.

The chorus of the song references the ancient supercontinent Pangea, which was comprised of all of the Earth's landmasses. The use of this metaphor emphasizes the idea that the two people were once united, but have since separated. The repetition of the phrase "Pangea we used to be together, why'd we have to drift apart" highlights the pain and frustration that comes with losing a valuable relationship.

The last verse of the song offers an image of hope that the two people might be able to reconnect. The lyrics reference a box containing lost socks and hint that the person who received the letter used to be around. This suggests that there is still a chance to rekindle the lost connection but acknowledges that it may require effort and communication from both parties.

The mid 2000's were the golden days of indie in my opinion

@starshot5172

Not simply an opinion, it's a fact. Today, indie is just a term for music with some vibrato to the guitar. Very little of it is good, and none of it like it used to be.

First heard this song in the mid 2000’s while working at my college’s radio station importing/logging CDs into the computer database. It’s been on my iPod ever since and I still f*cks wit it. I’m a Puerto Rican from NYC whose first love is basketball and Hip-Hop/R&B. I only mention this to emphasize that any aspiring artist should make the music they love. You never know who it will reach and what speakers it’ll be bumpin' from years later!

There's no such thing as "too much music" when it comes to SSLYBY. Love these guys, and the video was more awesome than it should have been.
