Pyre
Son Lux Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Find resurrection in the flames,
And in the fury of alarm bells,
We shalt begin
We shalt begin again.
Oh, oh.
Oh, oh. Bring all your things and we will build a pyre,
We shalt begin
We can begin again.
The lyrics in Son Lux's song Pyre are evocative and metaphorical, implying a desire to rise up from the ashes and start anew, to transform old pain and suffering into something new and perhaps better, something that can be reborn like a phoenix. The mention of a pyre, which is traditionally used in funeral rites, signifies the end of something, but the addition of the line "and we will build" suggests that this ending is not just a resignation to fate, but an active choice to transform the ending into a new beginning. The use of fire as a symbol of purification and renewal is also telling - this is a song about transformation, about taking the past and making it into something new and beautiful, no matter how painful that process may be.
The line "And in the fury of alarm bells, we shalt begin" is particularly intriguing, suggesting that perhaps this transformation is not entirely voluntary or easy, but something thrust upon the singer - or all of us - by circumstance, by some external event that has shaken us out of complacency or comfort. However, the repetition of "We shalt begin" and "We can begin again" suggests a strength and resolve, a willingness to face whatever comes and to rebuild, no matter how difficult the journey.
Overall, Son Lux's Pyre is a hauntingly beautiful song that speaks to the human desire for transformation, for a way to rise above past pain and start anew. It suggests that even in the face of chaos and turmoil, we can choose to embrace the flames and find resurrection, finding strength and beauty in the midst of hardship.
