Formed in November 2003 in the garage of 25-year-old lead guitarist and vocalist Jamie Davies, the band's style has evolved since it's inception and their latest songs are almost unrecognisable from their original material. Bassist Kyle Lee joined the band in September 2008, bringing with him his melodic and powerful bass lines as well as ace song-writing skills. Hard-hitting drummer Adam Jones beefs up the Sona sound and pushes songs along.

Sona self-released 2 EP's ("Sona EP" in 2006 and "Underwater EP" in 2008) to excellent response, with songs off both EP's being played on BBC Radio as well as countless online Podcasts and independent Radio shows.

2010 saw the release of their debut full-length album, "Really Good With Cages", featuring 11 songs, recorded and produced by Nino Errico at Autumn Road Studios in Wrexham.

In September 2010, Sona signed to the label dPulse Recordings who re-released their debut album as a digitial download, followed by physical release.

Their as yet untitled follow up to 'Really Good With Cages' will be released in 2011 and is set to contain Sona's most experimental material to date.

A lot of sona mains are very unhappy with this new sona nerf. Yes, sona nerf.

Her ap ratios on Q and W were nerfed

She actually has less cooldowns with this rework (besides ulti ofc) so she's less spammy. 40% base cooldown reduction on her basic abilities is way more ability haste than 60 ability haste mathematically.

Sona is now more mana hungry than before. She used to get 30 mana refund but now her mana was reduced by 25, so you waste 5 more mana now.

The only buff you could say is her ultimate cooldown stacks but just like Lumi said when are you realistically going to get to late game most of the time? You use your ultimate once in teamfights anyways.

Literally everyone would have rather gotten an infinite AP scaling Sona rework. Y'all are saying you don't want her to be nuke but sweeties her stacks would be orientated towards late game which you rarely reach anyways. And also, where's your same energy with this "nuke support" with Senna? She stacks infinite AD and range. It would've been perfectly balanced to give Sona infinite AP stacks especially with her AP ratio nerfs. Plus Senna can stack infinitely but this Sona only stacks up to 120? The clownery love.

sona’s poke is better than seraphine’s because it’s all point and click. Most of seraphine’s poke can be easily dodged

Serpahine’s W cool down is way too long to even be compared to Sona’s W and E. Plus, Seraphine’s W is nowhere near the amount of shielding Sona can do by the time Serpahine can cast a W is insane.

Additionally, Serpahine only has 1 ability that can apply item passives (ex:ardent), meanwhile Sona applies item passives with ease. It’s almost impossible not to have a 5 man Ardent/Shureliyas/Chemtech/SOFW on everyone during a team fight as Sona. Meanwhile serpahine struggles to keep item passives online.

And i don’t even have to explain how useful power chord is for Sona. It’s so impactful.

There’s clear differences between Sona and Seraphine. They have different purposes. If you want someone to compare serpahine to, try neeko support or lux support. Seraphine support easily outshines those two, but not Sona sweetie.

I think this rework on Sona is not bad. What I think they did is that they want the players to use her skills with more sense not just spam and wait for your ult points. Now it's up to the player if they will able to get her power spike. I think this is not bad, they also emphasised her difference on seraphine where seraphine can have an extending ult while sona can have her ult on lower cd.

honestly, her AP ratio nerfs were nothing, she literaly jsut lost 5% ap ratio on her Q and E, so that means with 500ap, that means your full burst combo now does 25 less damage.. and your E heals for 25 less hp. the heal nerf is more noticable since its spamable, but her burst damage you won't even notice the difference, 25 damage is nothing when her R,Q auto-attack combo can 100% anyone who's not a tank.

@Julian Kanzuki That’s about as much as an aery rune’s damage and shielding on average. So if they took away aery would you be just as alright with it? Surely not. 5% may not sound like a big deal but it definitely adds up, or should I say, decreases Sona’s overall effectiveness in healing, damage, and shielding by 800-1,000+ points (depending on the length of the game) over the course of a game, which is a lot, especially since she’s geared towards longer games where that 5% adds up to a lot of missing healing, shielding, and damage you used to be able to do.

i haven't watched the full video yet BUT
as a Gold 4 sona main-ish (yeah it's not that good, but i think i know a tiny bit)

maxing w first wouldn't be optimal due to 2 main reasons:
- mana costs! it takes approx 1/7th of your mana every time you use it without items at level one, so extending that to say, 3 points in reaches 90 mana every time you heal
- the healing, especially with the changes to the amount healed for, will generally make you useless in laning phase. the only way sona wins (at least from what ive seen) is through pressuring through her damage and poke. by maxing w your dmg and pressure is actually gone

even going tear, you get about 3/4 more w casts? i just don't see it being that useful imo

Making her ratios lower+ higher mana cost sounds like a nerf to me. Yes, she will shine more in mid game, but early game sounds even more garbage than before. Rn you have to PRAY that your adc doesn’t go all in because sona can’t provide ANY damage

@karma hater no it isn't, her empowered auto after a Q is 20 − 240 + 40% ap ratio. + the 30 bonus damage from her aura. so asuming you're level 7 with 100ap, Sona's empowered auto will do 64 base damage + 30 aura damage + 120 powerchord damage so you hit for 214+ damage (more with masteries or if you happen to have sheen) that's a fair amount of poke threat.

@Julian Kanzuki the empowered auto in question isn't part of her Q, it's her passive, and it's +20% AP, not 40% (or 28-336 and 28% for Q powerchord). Your powerchords hit the same regardless of Q rank and 10 vs 30 magic damage isn't winning you lane, again. Plus, there's no way you have a rank 5 Q at level 7 so we're looking at 25 magic damage, not 30. Not to mention that powerchords don't actually consume the Q aura damage, you need to AA again after

@Skinny Legend putting one of lumi’s examples here: seraphine has burst utility and long range, while Sona has very spammy and long sustained augmenting abilities. They have similar kits yes, but seraphine at the end of the day just has a burst of ms, shield and a delay heal every 16 seconds (that heals missing hp% which is worse in some cases) while Sona has a smaller heal + shield but can do it almost every 3-4 seconds. Seraphine is a burst utility mage while Sona is a augmenter enchanter.
