Just Imagine
Sonic Boom Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just imagine everyday
Just imagine anyway
Just imagine lets just say
Just imagine time away

Just imagine how it could be
Just imagine you′re a tree
Just imagine simplicity
Just imagine and then we'll see

Just imagine that you′re a cloud
Just imagine don't say it out loud
Just imagine to be truly free
Just imagine simplicity

Just imagine what you can do
Just imagine let it all come thru
Just imagine in the back of your mind
Just imagine and you'll be fine

Just imagine a cloud losing rain
Just imagine it again, and again
Just imagine what we could be
I′ll imagine too and then we′ll see

Imagine you're with long lost friends
Imagine seeing them again
Imagine all the places that changed
Imagine they came back again

Just imagine that you′re a cloud
Just imagine don't say it out loud
Just imagine to be truly free
Just imagine simplicity

Just imagine what you can do
Just imagine let it all come thru
Just imagine in the back of your mind
Just imagine and you′ll be fine

Just imagine a cloud losing rain
Just imagine it again, and again
Just imagine what we could be
I'll imagine too and then we′ll see

Imagine you're with long lost friends
Imagine seeing them again
Imagine all the places that changed
Imagine they came back again

Do you think the line about seeing your long lost friend again is a reference to Jason Pierce? Because Pete’s always been open to working with him, but Jason’s refused to ever speak to Sonic again. I don’t know why, but I think that it’s either that Pierce is afraid that seeing Kember would be a temptation to start using (more) Heroin again, or that Sonic did something so awful that it’s unforgivable, even two decades later.

I listened to the whole album while tripping on Ketamine yesterday. And when I take Ketamine, I almost always try to deprive my senses as much as possible with noise cancelling headphones and an eyeshade/sleep-mask in a dimly lit room.

I’m glad I didn’t this time, though. And I plan to return to it the next time I take LSD.

edit: Earlier Sonic Boom, Spiritualized, and Spacemen 3 albums work well too.
