It's Just A Matter Of Time
Sonny James Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Someday, some way
You'll realize that
You've been blind
Yes, darling, you're
Going to need me again
It's just a matter of time
Go on, go on
Until you reach
The end of the line
But I know you'll
Pass my way again
It's just a matter of time
After I gave you
Everything I had
You laughed and
Called me a clown
Remember, in your search
For fortune and fame
What goes up must come down
I know, I know that one day
You'll wake up and find

That my love was a true love
It's just a matter of time

I'm a big fan of Sonny James! He took previous pop song hits from the '50's and '60's and re-made them into country songs. I love the originals and I love his versions too. By doing so, he was able to achieve 16 consecutive #1 singles in a row on the Billboard Country chart in the late 1960's and early 1970's; an incredible feat which no one has surpassed in any musical genre. I'd also love to see Tiny Tim's performances on this episode.

Joe Kelly

TS: He had an ''ear'' for hits.

WVOB

I enjoyed his singing starting from the '60's. Beautiful, unique voice.

Classic!
This timing of this performance coincided with the release of Sonny James' 45 version of the song, which soon after hit the top of the charts and stayed there for four weeks.

Marryann Lamb

Awesome love sonny James songs.

This guy had SIXTEEN consecutive #1 hits in four years, from 1967-71. But name anyone under 60 who remembers him.

Me! :)

I remember him well. A true southern gentleman.

Used to listen to the trucker shows like the Road Gang on WWL out of New Orleans many years ago. Sonny James was played along with the rest of country music, the way it used to was. I miss the giants.

Scott Nevison

You're 100 % right.. I never heard of him until last night. 😔
