Sons of Korah was founded by Matthew Jacoby and Matthew continues to co-ordinate the project. Matthew, who recently completed his doctorate in philosophy and theology at the University of Melbourne, teaches on the spirituality of the psalms and his concise commentary on the settings of the psalms is a feature that is woven through most concert events. In all things Sons of Korah seek to provide an impacting musical journey into the spirit and world of the psalms. The other regular touring members of the group are Jayden Lee, Rod Wilson and Mike Avery. In most cases Sons of Korah tour as a four piece band though they occasionally expand for bigger events.
Sons of Korah is also a partner of the Bible Societies in Australia and New Zealand and in most cases they tour in support of the work of the Bible Society.
Psalm 127
Sons Of Korah Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The workers labor on in vain
Unless the Lord He guards the city
The watchmen they will guard in vain
In vain you rise up early
In vain you stay up late
Toiling for food to eat
He loves sons are a heritage from the Lord
Children are a reward from Him
Like arrows in the hands of a warrior
So are sons born in one's youth
Blessed is the man blessed is the man
Whose quiver is full is full of them
Blessed is the man blessed is the man
They will never be ashamed
When they contend with their foes
The lyrics of Sons Of Korah's song Psalm 127 is an interpretation of Psalm 127 from the Bible. The first verse talks about the importance of putting the Lord at the center of any project or endeavor. The house mentioned here can refer to the physical house but also to any kind of project or work being undertaken. The laborers are powerless unless the Lord is involved in the building process. Similarly, the city cannot be protected without the Lord's intervention, even if there are watchmen guarding it. Thus, the verse emphasizes the importance of seeking the Lord's guidance and intervention in all aspects of life, from personal to professional.
The second verse speaks about the vanity of human efforts without the help of God. No matter how hard one works, the outcome is uncertain unless the Lord wills it. The sleep mentioned here is not just the physical sleep but also the peace of mind that comes with knowing that God is in control. The verse also talks about the blessings of having children. Sons are considered a heritage and a reward from the Lord. They are like arrows in the hands of a warrior, indicating that they are a valuable asset and a sign of strength.

I am a Torah-keeping believer. I grew up listening to 60's and 70's rock. I have unfairly been critical of most contemporary Christian music, not thinking that the level of quality was there. That is until SOK. I absolutely love their music and style. I have since repented for my critical attitude, however I find SOK is as good as any music recorded. God bless this group, and all of SOK listeners! Shalom.

@jeffporter5935 we as well are very careful who we listen to not because we are critical of the sound or the style necessarily but because so many are sold out to secular record labels under the banner of Christian music or tied to heretical megachurches. We love the sons of Korah because they are independent and it's hard to go wrong when you just sing the word of God. I am from Florida where are you from sir? We are also pursuing the Torah and keep the biblical Feasts among other things

Absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, how inspired y'all are by the Psalms. Truly helps others meditate and memorize scripture with little to no effort! Tears filling my eyes as I write, because in a world where we may feel so surrounded by wickedness, there are such great blessings to feed us like these beautiful songs! Well done good and faithful SERVANTS!

@@SonsofKorah yes thank you so much I listen to your music often and especially Psalm 139 gave me such a deeper Revelation right after the loss of my mother and the loss of our son during labor it was just mind-blowing how the Lord has planned all of our days, I knew that, but I knew it in a deeper way; and the Psalms and I will say your versions of them, which I primarily listen to, have brought me so much strength and comfort. I listen to them as I work as a carpenter in people's homes and I sing them and they hear me Worship the Lord Jesus to your music... so you are impacting the lives of millions possibly tens or hundreds of millions honestly!

Divinely Mysterious! I was speaking to the Yah earlier about my husband and son being a gift from him and this song came to mind: sons are a heritage from the Lord, children are a reward from him. I love the changeovers In your songs too, by the way. I love the psalms, sons of korah is my favorite. I love the imprecatory psalms especially. God loves to answer when we pray psalms, they are powerful weapons of warfare. May God bless you from Zion! may God's peace be with Israel
