Sonsombre is by many the most exciting thing to happen to goth music in a decade. One can say he is creating a rival with this old school goth vibe with modern twists. Brandon Pybus has a classic gothic rock image too, dressed in black with big brimmed hat, crucifix and shades but with the new touch, that of a catholic preacher.
Lights Out
Sonsombre Lyrics

I can see you out there, and you're answering the call
Have mercy
Have mercy on my soul
You can bring disaster
Disaster
With the lights out
We can live like no tomorrow
With the lights out
With the lights out
We can live forever
Do you want to see it fall?
I can feel you near me, and you're answering the call
Have mercy
Have mercy on my soul
We are disaster
Disaster
With the lights out
We can share in the sorrow
We can live like no tomorrow
With the lights out
With the lights out
We can live forever
The lyrics to Sonsombre's song "Lights Out" suggest a yearning for a feeling of intensity and rawness. The opening line, "Do you want to feel it all?" invites the listener to join the singer on an emotional journey. The fact that the singer can see the listener, who is "answering the call," indicates a connection that transcends physical distance. The repeated plea for mercy on the singer's soul suggests a weighty burden or perhaps a sense of guilt. The lyrics are ambiguous in terms of what specifically the singer wants the listener to do. The line "You can bring disaster" could be interpreted as an ominous warning or an invitation to take risks.
The chorus of the song contains the repeated phrase "With the lights out," which suggests a desire to escape the banality and artificiality of everyday life. By turning off the lights, the singer and the listener can "share in the sorrow" and "live like no tomorrow." This phrasing suggests a recognition of the fleeting nature of life and a desire to seize the moment. The repetition of the line "We can live forever" further underscores this desire for an experience that transcends mortality.
