crowd
Sophie Cates Lyrics

When everything went fine
But I still drove home
Trying not to cry
(Trying not to cry)
And there were nights in June
I almost called you after twoBut I didn′t, 'cause I knew
That she′d be with you
(She'd be with you)
Throw the jacket on so casual
Let's talk about how you left it all
When you let me watch you fall in love
You can′t pretend that it′s not your fault
But there's something ′bout the way you're lookin′ now
(Something 'bout the way you′re lookin' now)
Telling me that I should let it go somehow
(Telling me that I should let it go somehow)
You asked if it's been on my mind all summer
And if I said no, then I′d be lying
I looked for you in every single crowd
In every single crowd, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
In every single crowd, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Don′t tell me it hurt you when I didn't reply
′Cause letting you back in has got me hurt every time
They're playing our song, you say you think it′s a sign
But I spent summer trying to tell myself I was fine
But there's something ′bout the way you're lookin' now
(Something ′bout the way you′re lookin' now)
(Telling me that I should let it go somehow)
You asked if it′s been on my mind all summer
And if I said no, then I'd be lying
I looked for you in every single crowd
In every single crowd, ooh (oh)
In every single crowd, ooh (every single crowd)
(Every single crowd)
In Sophie Cates's song "Crowd," the lyrics depict the lingering feelings and emotions of unrequited love. The singer reflects on the nights in July when everything seemed fine on the surface but deep down, she was driving home, holding back tears. The mention of nights in June suggests a point where she almost reached out to the person she loves but ultimately didn't, knowing that he would be with someone else. The lyrics also mention how she watched him fall in love with someone else, emphasizing the pain she feels as she can't pretend that it's not his fault.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the struggle of letting go, as the singer acknowledges that there is something about the way he looks now that makes her hesitant to move on. Despite trying to convince herself otherwise, she admits that she has thought about him all summer, symbolizing her inability to let go of her feelings. She confesses that she looked for him in every crowd she encountered, highlighting her lingering attachment and longing.
Overall, "Crowd" delves into the complexities of heartache and unrequited love, depicting the internal struggle and longing for someone who is no longer available or interested.

I haven’t listened to this song for 7 years.. I’d listen to it repeatedly going through the hardest breakup of my life. I just listened again… and I’m right back in my bed 7 years ago crying my eyes out…. I still look for him in every single crowd

I've been a fan of her for a year maybe a year and a half, and it honestly sucks that she is not known. She is an amazing artist, she writes great songs, she's beautiful and crazy talented. And she's just amazing. And her new album is amazing. Period. Please Silver keep making amazing music, you are a queen. Your my favorite artist, love you. xoxo
