Upon recording a few songs at a local studio, she decided to send the demos to three record companies, with no special expectations. Soon Sony Sweden gave her a phone call and offered her a record deal. At this stage, she had never played in front of an audience. Sophie started to record her self-titled debut album in 1995. The album was produced and arranged by Lars Halapi, a long time collaborator who has subsequently worked on all her material.
She was awarded a Grammy at the Swedish Grammy awards as Best Newcomer in 1995, she was also nominated for Best Female Pop Singer. Her album managed Gold status both in Sweden and Japan. The third, fourth and fifth albums, Time to Kill (1999), Sing and Dance (2002) and Love Affair (2003) quickly followed. Ten years after her debut she released a best-of album titled A Decade Of Dreams which also included two new tracks.

Losing You

There's something missing
Something I took
I can tell by the way you sound
Won't be long
You won't be around
Ooh I'm losing you
Was it my words?
Or my silence?
I know it hurts
My kind of violence
Won't you tell
How I hurt you?
Won't be long
You won't be around
Ooh I'm losing you
Ooh I'm losing you
Ooh I'm losing you
Ooh I'm losing you
Ooh I'm losing you
Ooh I'm losing you
In Sophie Zelmani's song Losing You, the lyrics portray a sense of loss and regret in a relationship that is slowly deteriorating. The verses speak of subtle signs that the relationship is coming to an end, like the way the person looks and sounds, and the realization that something has been taken away. The chorus then repeats the refrain "Ooh I'm losing you" which is a powerful and emotional admission of defeat in saving the relationship.
The second verse then asks for clarification on what went wrong with questions like "Was it my words" or "My silence" that may have caused hurt to the other person. The line "My kind of violence" is particularly striking as it suggests that what was perceived as harmless actions by one person may have caused emotional pain to the other. The song ends with a plea to speak up and voice out the hurt before it's too late.
Overall, the song Losing You is a poignant portrayal of a relationship coming to an end with a feeling of helplessness and regret. The lyrics are simple yet powerful, and Sophie Zelmani's soothing voice captures the emotions perfectly.
