Upon recording a few songs at a local studio, she decided to send the demos to three record companies, with no special expectations. Soon Sony Sweden gave her a phone call and offered her a record deal. At this stage, she had never played in front of an audience. Sophie started to record her self-titled debut album in 1995. The album was produced and arranged by Lars Halapi, a long time collaborator who has subsequently worked on all her material.
She was awarded a Grammy at the Swedish Grammy awards as Best Newcomer in 1995, she was also nominated for Best Female Pop Singer. Her album managed Gold status both in Sweden and Japan. Since the turbulence of the first album release, Zelmani has started saying no to interviews and only embarks on tour for short periods of time.
The third, fourth and fifth albums, Time to Kill (1999), Sing and Dance (2002) and Love Affair (2003) quickly followed. Ten years after her debut she released a best-of album titled A Decade Of Dreams which also included two new tracks.

To Know You
Sophie Zelmani Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Means a lot of things
Lot of love, lot of dreams
You are a world
I can't explore
You're a scene
Got a feeling about
To be around you
Means I can't be there
Got to take my mind
Out of there
To explain you
Means my heart in show
You are the reminder
Of the nothingness
I'm open to
The lyrics of Sophie Zelmani's "To Know You" are enigmatic, evocative, and open for interpretation. The song describes the complex emotions associated with getting to know someone, particularly the fear, anticipation, and vulnerability that come with it. The song starts by stating that to know someone can mean a lot of different things, including love and dreams. The listener gets the sense that the singer is overwhelmed by the depth and complexity of the person they are trying to know.
The lyrics suggest that getting to know someone is like exploring a new world. The person the singer is attempting to know, however, has so much depth and mystery that it is impossible to explore everything. The singer is aware of this, but they still feel a sense of anticipation about what's to come by being around this person. However, being around the person means the singer must distance their mind from the situation because it can be overwhelming.
The song ends with the suggestion that the person the singer is attempting to know is a reminder of the nothingness that the singer is open to. This could be interpreted as a suggestion that the person is so significant that the singer is willing to accept that life without them would be empty, but it could also suggest that exploring the person's world has left the singer feeling empty.
Overall, "To Know You" is a nuanced, evocative song about the complex emotions experienced when trying to understand and know someone.
