Soulfly incorporates many styles of metal with Brazilian tribal and world music. All of their first six studio albums debuted on the United States Billboard 200, with a peak position at number 32 for their second album, Primitive. Soulfly has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band has gone through numerous line-up changes, with Cavalera being the only constant member. In an interview with Max in 2015, it is revealed that the band's name was taken from the song "Headup" by Deftones, a song that Max collaborated on.

Soulfly Lyrics

Take away my pride
Leave nothing behind
Tear apart what you believe
Fate comes calling you, beware, beware
Defeated, broken, mangled and torn
Far beyond all the things that you know
Superstition, harder than stone
World to world is where you tread
Your words of dust say everything
Like dying flames, the dread descends
Hold your heart in your bloody hands
Superstition
Nothing what it seems
Tunnel visions, mindless action
Beyond the things you know
Destination, pain reaction
Fate comes calling you, beware, beware
Superstition spoken in tongues
Defeated, broken, mangled and torn
Far beyond all the things that you know
Superstition, harder than stone
The lyrics of Soulfly's song Superstition appear to be inspired by the concept of superstition as something that becomes harder than stone. The words suggest that superstition can take hold of someone's mind and actions, causing them to lose sight of reality and become trapped in a world of fear and uncertainty. The singer pleads for a release from such a state, asking for his pride to be taken away and everything that he previously believed to be torn apart.
The song goes on to suggest that in a state of superstition, one's words become meaningless and their actions are mindless. The world becomes a dark and treacherous place where fate is always lurking and pain is an inevitable reaction to every situation. The lyric "Hold your heart in your bloody hands" is particularly haunting, suggesting a sense of desperation and hopelessness that comes with being trapped in the grip of superstition.
Overall, the lyrics of Superstition are a cautionary tale about the dangers of allowing superstition to dictate one's life. The song implores listeners to be aware and beware of the power that superstition can hold over them, and to strive for a life where they can see clearly and think for themselves.

@Aarthurnax Plays apparently none of you guys are old school sepultura / soulfly fans. it's a long departure from the glory years

@aergfsd sure, he’ll never be as good as he was on Arise or BTR. Dude’s 53 after all. Oh, and I’ve been listening to old Soulfly and Sepultura for almost 12 years now
