The Blacksmith
Soulspell Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A deal defining the rules of a kingdom
Feel the words and so many souls
Flying away
(Hermes)
You are a king so you have
The power to move a man
There´s no excuse
His Kingdom was clear in this courage
Not trapped on a Cross
Defending those who deserve a place
In the Kingdom of all men
(Samael)
Burning my hope I´ll live again
(Hermes)
Oh Lord! Who has claim? Who´s the only one?
Don´t say your prayers in vain.Be Jerusalem!
(Tobit)
If you can´t understand my own traditions
This time just a brave heart won´t be enough to you.
(Hermes)
His Kingdom was clear in this courage
Not trapped on a Cross
Defending those who deserve a place
In the Kingdom
Oh Lord! Who has claim? Who´s the only one?
Don´t say your prayers in vain.Be Jerusalem!
(Tobit)
Our faith is forged by our courage
The holy one is the one
who always defends
Our legacy is a war that has no end
The anvil is hot and the hammer is strong
In "The Blacksmith," Soulspell depicts a kingdom governed by a king who possesses the power to control the fate of others. Hermes advises the king, who is referred to as Tobit, to lead with his mind and not his heart, as there is no excuse for failures in leadership. Tobit's kingdom is defined by strength and courage, and he is willing to defend those who deserve a place in his realm. The chorus urges the listener to find a claim and avoid saying prayers in vain, likening spirituality to being the city of Jerusalem.
Samael is another character in the song, whose hope has been burned away, though he still hopes to live again. The lyrics suggest war, as souls are flying away and the legacy is described as a war with no end. The imagery of the blacksmith reinforces this, as the process of forging metal is violent and requires heat and strength.

Great song, but since Jesus was a carpenter (as far as I know), who is the blacksmith?

The Blacksmith made the nails for Jesus. I'm guessing.
