First usage of this name is credited to a duo of Eric Lumbleau (of Vas Deferens Organization) and Joel Zoch. They specialize in creating torrentially layered post-industrial, pan-ethnic psychedelic audio collages that resemble the avantgarde. They have released two albums, "Drunk On Sound" (1999), and "Screaming Zenith" (2002).

The Filipino band:
Something new, yet distinctly familiar. The name connotes an open mind, sophistication, and ambition. An endless list of influences range from the Beatles to Corduroy, Jamiroquai to Stevie Wonder, from Steely Dan to Jazzanova, whose colors find their way into the sonic palette. Guided by a cool head for business, the work is as fevered and passionate as a band enjoying full creative control: practical, but radical. Independent, yet pop.
Since the launch of bossaManila, their first full-length effort in April 2003, Sound's line-up underwent several changes. Liquid Jane's Chad Rialp had taken over bass duties for Yuson—who took a break from the band to pursue his medical studies—while Fajardo left the group towards the end of that year for other pursuits. Early 2004 saw the incorporation of newcomer Malek Lopez of Rubber Inc fame to fill the void that Fajardo left behind.
Sound's current following to date is attributed to their incendiary live act. Playing Manila's most noted music venues, such as 70s Bistro and Peligro, their set features a lush array of originals and interpretations; from Corduroy's January Woman to Gil Scott-Heron's Lady Day and John Coltrane, the Apo Hiking Society's ’Di Na Natuto to the Pinball Theme from Sesame Street.
The band is currently working towards the completion of their sophomore effort, Blue Monsoon, slated for release in 2006.
Fatal Flaw

Been growing away from the light
And I can't come back now
Until I drag myself out of this vice
Sense of distance when you stand next to me
I've made a strange disappearance
One that no-one can see
You can't reach me anymore
We all have weakness
Moments that we can't contain
Right now I'm all weakness
I'll make another retreat again
Sense of distance when you stand close to me
I've made a strange disappearance
One that no-one can see
You can't reach me anymore
Turn to face the fatal flaw
A fatal attraction - fatal flaw
Been growing away from the light - fatal flaw
The lyrics to Sound's song "Fatal Flaw" describe the feeling of being trapped in a self-destructive cycle or addiction. The singer has succumbed to a "fatal attraction" that is leading them away from the light or a positive path in life. They feel as though they cannot come back from this path until they manage to overcome the addictive vice that currently controls them. There is a sense of distance between the singer and others, even when they stand close, because of this addiction. The singer describes a "strange disappearance" that no one can see, further emphasizing the isolating and alienating effects of addiction. The chorus urges the singer to "turn to face the fatal flaw," confront their addiction or weakness, and begin the path to recovery.
The song's lyrics touch on universal themes of addiction, self-destructive tendencies, and loneliness. The chorus's repetition of the phrase "fatal flaw" serves as a poignant reminder that even our greatest strengths can often be the source of our downfall. The verses paint a vivid picture of the physical and emotional distance that addiction can create, leading to isolation and a sense of being lost. Ultimately, the song urges the listener to confront their weaknesses and seek help in order to break the cycle of addiction and self-destruction.

His lyrics scream his inner feelings. Alot of us feel like this daily and struggle with life. An incredible band that should be really recognised. Adrian will not be forgotten.
An Aesthetic Win
From the Lion’s Mouth is not only The Sound’s best album, but absolutely a masterpiece a legitimately perfect album from start to finish. While Jeopardy is also great, the sound (hehe) of it and the production on it is dated, whereas this album fixes that with timeless production. The second half of this album is the best that The Sound ever were…🖤

i think even if you have never experienced the emotions this man is framing, you can relate to the emotions. music of this caliber is rare. substance, with an obvious tortured soul as the figurehead. just a really good solid band with quality through all musicians, drums sharp and deep, keyboards sweeping and that grating lead guitar. Joy Division in a sense, even Smiths and Sex Pistols. But all on the one focus of the front man and his dark and sad, increasingly crushed existence. ❤

Excellent comment.

So very true... British post-punk era has definitely left its distinctive mark on discography forever. This song is a fine example of how penetrating with sheer sorrow plain songwriting can be. A bass guitar, a guitar, an analog synth, a basic drum kit. This is a mastrerpiece, in the same league as New dawn fades and love will tear us apart. Same recipe, same passion, same poetry.

Once again I say,my most loved of all their greatest songs.Such beauty and grace it towers above me always. No other song of theirs takes me out quite as far as this does. The drums, the guitar, the keyboards sound huge and vast. Adrian's voice and lyrics takes me away.Far away. And I can't come back now,til I pull myself out of this vice....
