Sound Horizon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sound Horizon's song "磔刑の聖女" (Crucified Saint) speak of a somber journey filled with determination. The singer walks with a heavy heart but feels a gust of wind on their back, causing them to briefly look back. The scent of the twilight feels strangely nostalgic and gives them the push they need to continue. They tremble alone in the face of overwhelming sadness, tracing with their fingers a distant promise. Hatred and twisted time rise up, and they find themselves gazing into the darkness, exchanging a kiss. Ah, resigned and ever-changing, they gather sins through their kisses.

They proclaim that they cannot forget, nor can they remember the past. Rather than living a life of love disguised as falsehood, they would rather die alongside the truth. They planted wild roses around the tombstone, hoping they would envelop the beloved, but in the end, they never bloom until the very end. The white bird in a cage that fell in love with moonlight knows it will eventually plummet to the ground, yet it continues to flap its wings until the end. That's why singing in the twilight is not a lament, but rather a song of regret. The cold chains that bind the one who has lost their flame, the love and hatred between two people who have lost love. Birds return to the sky, corpses return to the earth, betraying the natural order. The night turns into dawn, leading to a never-ending cycle of partings. But even so, there is no regret. Ah, this is my life. I am not a "daughter of a noble family" or the "daughter of a select emperor." I am just a "woman" who loved only you. Only you, my Elisabeth.
