(Heroine)

Luna Ballad
Rose Guine Avalon

Endymio…

Britannia

(Knights of the Rose)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sound Horizon's "薔薇の騎士団" depict two heroic women who symbolize an era in Britannia's history. The first woman is Luna Ballad, a poet who was referred to as "the shining moon on earth." Despite going blind on a harsh journey, she continued to sing and inspire hope in those who listened to her songs. Her poetry brought light to the darkness in people's hearts. The second woman is Rose Guine Avalon, who was the niece of a notorious tyrant queen and the heiress to the throne. Under the previous king's oppressive regime, she worked to free the suffering people.

The two women, Luna Ballad and Rose Guine Avalon, share a common goal as they live in a time where "freedom of thought and speech" is being repressed by those in power. In response to this, Rose Guine decides to take up the sword and become the leader of the Knights of the Rose to protect her nation from invaders. She carries the name of her beloved one, Endymio, and vows to continue singing no matter what might come her way in the face of the storms that threaten her commitment.

Overall, the song celebrates the courage and strength of women in a trying time in history, who use their talents to inspire and lead their countrymen to fight for their freedom.
