Just taking a shot in the dark. But I'm guessing Poppy is Ludwig's daughter.
There's a tape in Ludwig's office that said he was severely stricken by grief at the loss of a family member, but he pressed on with his "work". And in Chapter 1, Stella eluded to the idea of "death" and "going back to the good old days". And I think Kissy Missy is Stella. Given (And this is just a guess) her tape in Chapter 1 was pink, the same color as Kissy Missy (Who seem to be helping us).
So I have a feeling the missing workers of the factory were used as Guinee Pigs, and ended up as toys (Be it their souls or their consciousness were transferred into the toys). Hence why in this version of Poppy's dialogue, Poppy says "So many had to die, because of me". So I'm guessing Ludwig tried to bring back his daughter through the doll, and used whatever means necessary.

Added to that, We had the note regarding Mommy Long Legs, who had the subject name "Marie Payne". So it's likely she was a real person at one point and ended up as Mommy. But I'm still trying to figure out what she meant when she said "He'll make me a part of him" just before her death. I have a feeling the needle hand we saw will be merging with all the other defeated toys from all the Chapters.

My final theory is that that character we play is actual a toy him/ herself. If we take into consideration Poppy's dialogue in the final game. She talks about us as if we were a test subject as well. But could just be we really just worked in the facility.

But yeah, that's just me spit balling. Can't wait for Chapter 3.

This ending is better than the original tbh, I feel like if they could have used these lines instead of the original ones, it would have brought more lore and some clarification about Poppy's plan. She sounds way nicer in this, but this shows that she isn't evil after all. She just wants us to dig deep down the factory to take the other experiments down and she needs us for it because she saw how we got rid of Mommy. Great video Btw!!! Keep your amazing work up!!!

It's surprising how overlooked the storage room is with all the rejected toys and their reason seeing how I feel those will be the play care toys the player meets in chapter 3. It's interesting how if the player dies poppy's dialogue "wake up" "we got work to do" ,etc., sounds as if she's talking to the player after the trainwreck . I don't understand a few things tho, why did the prototype wait 10 years to try and collect the other great toys in death, I believe poppy is the best toy creation why not take her, did the player somehow have something to do with the creation of the prototype, if you listened to the tape the scientist said the prototype escaped due to the absence of another scientist, and why is poppy nice to the character, so far mommy LL, huggy wuggy and others have started off okay with the player then turned and became hostile,especially knowing or finding out the player worked there.

It's interesting listening to Poppy's dialogue in this version. A few of her lines are the same from the first chapter 2 trailer and she actually explains what's going on like with the workers being gone for a long time and Experiment 1006 being around looking for parts to make itself stronger. There really seems to be more confirmation of a lot of things proposed in the finished version within just that dialogue. I wonder why it was changed. Maybe to make the game seem more mysterious since this ending seems very straightforward unlike the full release. Maybe another reason, who knows.

During game development there are testers that test the game to see if there's anything wrong with it, the intense final chase was designed intense during development but the testers must have told them to tone it down a bit, the invisible wall bug was also found by testers and removed by developers aswell.

My opinion on why Poppy's Dialogue 1st version wasn't used on the final: Poppy's dialogue answer too much of the lore that was probably supposed to be revealed in chapter 3, which is why it wasn't used in the final. It also explains why she is keeping the protagonist. Who knows if the lore might have changed with the new one since she has a very different tone which is like a betrayal tone unlike the unused one where she needed help of the protagonist to fix everything which is also a bit revealed on the final one...

Poppy's change demeanor could simply be her mourning Mommy's loss yet, knowing she had to die since she wasn't the same loving Mommy anymore. Poppy still has morals even in the final cut.

For everyone who missed it, the guy in the video at 7:24 is Eli Roth, the writer/director behind Cabin Fever, the Hostel series, and the random kids movie The house with a clock in its walls, among other things. He pioneered the excessively gory horror genre in the US and is a well known name in the film industry.

I don't like his films, and don't recommend them to people who are squeamish, but if anyone is interested thats who he is.

I believe they changed the ending dialogue so as not to give too much away too quickly. Like you said, the final seems like a betrayal, and it was probably changed to set it up as a false lead, make you think she's evil and betrayed you, but they're pacing the reveals and story for an overall better experience.

I have a theory about how it wasn’t poppy who strays you. It was experiment 1006. The alarm clock sound that occurred when you and poppy lost communication was probably the prototype because he turned an alarm clock into a laser pointer according to a vhs tape. So I believe he got to poppy and tried to kill the player.

When she says “Don’t make me part of him”, and then later on in a cassette tape, we discover that the hand that grabs her is a toy in itself, likely the main monster of the whole game even, and that it uses toys to build its body. So now, thats Mommy’s head and body part attached to that guy that we’ll probably see more of in a future chapter. Also the way that Poppy betrays us... kind of betrays us... Sick

I have a different theory about that last sentence. I believe poppy didn’t betray you. After all, she did want to send you to playcare. There is a VHS tape explaining how the prototype tried to breach containment using an alarm clock as a laser pointer to disable it’s security camera. I believe that was what that alarm clock sound was when the player lost communication with poppy. The prototype had gotten to poppy and was now trying to stop you from reaching playcare by attempting to murder the player. This is just a theory I developed.

in this shes less vague in her plans. she knows what to do and how you can help her. in the released version shes cryptic, only saying she had a lot of time to work on a plan and she cant let you leave until whatever she has planned is finished. maybe, since it wouldnt change anything, they'll patch in this dialogue. the only smart reason they wouldn't would be if they have plans for her to explain further in the next chapter and didnt want her to repeat herself.

Poppy from this version makes us - the player - not see her as an antagonist or a bad guy after we defeated Mommy. Instead, she says things in a way that makes us wants to help Poppy even more. The words "Terrible things have happened" and "Where do I even begin?" came from the trailer. I was surprised that these words were cut out from the original version.

Maybe the reason why they opted to change Poppy's dialogue is that we want to feel Poppy is a manipulative character and we should vary of her in the next chapter. It is an quite interesting change.

22:16 Poppy’s lines for the ending in this version at 26:56 are unused and “raw”, Monmy Long Legs’s lines are also “raw” (have no effects applied), other stuff has changed, there’s no trace of the Prototype’s model or Huggy Wuggy on the wall where his blood and fur would be. In this version, you don’t even need to pull the lever to grind Mommy Long Legs. Huggy’s cutout is missing, and Bunzo’s cutout that has a button is missing the button.

in the final version, poppy feels more like a criminal/traitor

Theory: You know the hospital room? I think that with Huggy, poppy, mommy, and kissy (maybe more in chapter 3) they were humans at one point. I believe that in that room they had these toys and did some experiments on the people and put them in the toys. That would explain the blood on the bed that a person would lay on. Plus, why would Huggy bleed if he is basically a toy? And why would mommy bleed when we kill her? Wouldn’t just plastic or something come out of her? Not blood. I don’t know. It’s a theory! 😁

I think it being a betrayal was the intended ending. Since your goal was to escape with poppy by what she says earlier. She forces you to stay to complete some goal she doesn't explain though. This ending just has the explanation. These could still be used in the game though. If they aren't used here they could be used in the beginning of chapter 3 as character development dialogue.

Theres a change in Poppy voiceline (The train one)
In release version it says:"Sorry, I cannot let you leave"
But in this version it says:"I'am sorry, I cannot let you leave yet"
Which means Poppy still have something to do with player itself so thats why she cannot let the player leave yet
Edit:The next chapter prob lead the player towards Playcare place (and the player might meet Poppy again since well its Poppy plan to lead the trains towards playcare)
(Also its kinda weird Playcare in underground lol)

Something always puzzled me about mml, why doesn't she just reach at the player and kill them? She is proven to be fast when extending with how she rips the players hand off and can extend her limbs very far so we can't run at all. Also on her death scene she could've turned the thing off or extend her free arm to kill the player to take them down with her

Same reason she didn't just kill us the first time she sees us. She steals our red arm and addresses us as "a new playmate!" The filed on her reveal that she loves children but quite hates the workers here, and her dialogue suggests that she thinks we deserve to be left alone to rot. She's toying with us. The whole time she forced us to play her deadly games, she was just toying with us. She didn't want our death to be quick and merciful, she wanted to terrify us first.

Alarms appear to be a motif, moreso in chapter 2. "Waking up" too. That all goes along with poppy seeds and opiates, I guess. The Prototype 1006 guy disassembled an alarm clock, and Poppy is interrupted by an alarm sound, which I don't recall happening in the normal ending. Seems to imply the Prototype got her.

I really want to see you explore the early portion of this build, I love unused and janky animations and dialogue with knowing eyes.

I never saw proto P.J. I was expecting to see early proto P.J who appears in the trailer, but by the looks of it on the cutting room floor, only remanence of early proto P.J is his textures.
I also noticed P.J lacked purple body segments. (I browsed tcrf after seeing P.J to see if they are covering the game and to confirm if P.J had purple segments in the final or if I'm going crazy, tcrf did not have that dialogue at the end there. It's mostly P.J, some other Poppy dialogue, that I don't know where they play if played at all, and that placeholder song.)
I also noticed Mommy didn't break in half, I think she was fully pulled in, or that detail wasn't set up since the whole animation wasn't set up correctly. The prototype might be there but not set up or doesn't exist at all yet since the scene appears unfinished entirely.

OH! I just learned something interesting, that broken Mommy animation at the end, that EXISTS in the final. What it is, is that Mommy WASN'T suppose to go into the grinder, all Mommy models have the grinder scene blueprinted into them, but only one has it programmed correctly into it.
It's a stitched sequence, the moment you walk onto the floor in the grinder room, it desponds the Mommy chasing you and loads a new one directly behind you, this prototype didn't do that.

I feel like if they wouldve kept that original voiceover during the train scene it wouldve been better, like a good closure or closing point for chapter 2 and good transition into chapter 3. Like the little explanation of poppy saying that all the others that were here that we were looking for are gone, long good also brings closure to both the first and second chapters and now we have to be the ones to fix it in the next chapter to come that wouldve been better i feel like. Like we closed 2 chapters and now we are headed into the 3rd the unknown

I feel like an eerier, more insane Mommy Long Legs fits better.
She’s been abandoned for so long, trapped for so long, she just doesn’t have a grip on reality. She feels so hurt, and we’re the cause.
Honestly, she deserves to get mad at us. We’re the last of the workers, and we abandoned her, leaving her for dead.

As much as I like this ending dialogue, I’m glad they didn’t use it. It literally gives the WHOLE game away. Absolutely everything, only in the second chapter.
I do hope they rehash this dialogue and reuse it in a later chapter.

I think, based on what we've seen so far and my own thoughts, that Poppy will be a morally gray character. She won't be like Glamrock Freddy, nor will she be like Baby.
Maybe she will be a "for the greater good" type, willing to sacrifice the player if it means that it will make things right. I think that will make her story arc and character overall more interesting than, "Oh noes she's betrayed you, she's pure evil" and that's it.

I have a theory. So in this, Mommy says "He'll make me part of him" when she's being ground up. But in the full release, Experiment 1006 takes Mommy's body away. So what my theory is maybe the final boss will be a Frankenstein like amalgamation mixed with the dead toys, such as mommy, possibly huggy, and more that we dispose of later on.

An additional reminder that the music in the Statues section is Burning Memory from Everywhere at the end of time, a multi piece music experiment designed to simulate dementia. The title screen gives me vibes from the song, and I'm guessing the creators really like it

i was looking for this comment! the moment i heard the music from it's just a burning memory play, i immediately gasped out loud. i was absolutely waiting for the moment where the devs would put the music inside of the game. i also have the same opinion as you do, the title screen song gave me slight chills because it reminded me of said music experiment. oh man it's genius, especially because it's so eerie too!

Hear me out, you know how buggy hit the pipes and fell down and there’s the place where there’s blood and his fur leading to the vent? What if he did die and it’s the prototype who dragged him into the vent like how he dragged away the killed MML? I think that’s what happened because there’s no way he survived that and idk what else they’d do with him except add him to the prototype to make it stronger

2:06 so it’s probably true that the main game’s music for statues and the menu music is inspired by EATEOT (everywhere at the end of time)
and if you’re wondering what the music is, it’s “a burning memory” by the caretaker, or it’s sample “heartaches” by al bowlly, just wanted to point that out. Also yes, the music is different from the full release, they probably just used EATEOT as a placeholder.

I think I know what that alarm clock sound was when poppy was communicating with the player. VHS tape log code 08502 mentioned that experiment 1006 had nearly breached containment using an alarm clock as a laser pointer to disable the security camera. yes. I am implying that the prototype, experiment 1006, had gotten to poppy mid-communication during the ending and sped the train up with the intention of killing the player. this is just a theory of mine. leave any replies about what you think about this theory.

I'm so excited to see huggy wuggy in the next chapter! Btw Something still give me goosebumps when I found out that some strange noises when you go to the vent after you finished the minigame from music memory you can hear I think it's a scream but i still don't know and the I heard it again before you walk into the barry puzzle you can hear strange sounds too some said mommy killing bonzo and the mini huggies☹️.

After you play Simon says you can hear bumps getting attacked by something same with wack a wuggy and you might be able to go back in the vents and see if bunzo is dead or something like that and after you do the lever puzzle before you get chased by mommy go back from where you came from. Hope you find the secrets. Also idk if it’s real because I just saw it on a different video.

Fun fact: The music played within the PJ Pugapillar part was actually Heartaches/It's Just A Burning Memory. Which, imo, fits the part of the game MUCH better.

The music that is playing in the statues minigame is a different version of “Heartaches” which is really interesting because it proves that poppy playtimes music was based off of that song, which people speculated in the first chapter.

Elliot Ludwig lost hia daughter and he continued working to revive her as a doll. Then he experimented and made succes. After that they started using orphans to make living toys, with all the tests they knew who was worthy. Mommy is testing us for the same reason. Poppy says she is the reason cause she gettung revived started it, Elliot Ludwig is the experiment 1006 trying to reunite.

I never saw poppy as a bad guy but the original ending made it seem like she is bad. This ending is just so much better it shows that she isn’t all that bad and is more helpful.

I wish mommy characters was more active. Like that scene here you use the hands to go up and she’s running around the room while you hide..her model just appears and disappears at times and it feels kinda clumsy tbh. Like that chase tension is suddenly gone. It’s still a amazing game

On the Poppy Playtime YouTube channel they show you the VHS tapes in the prototype. They should change what Poppy say in the normal game to the prototype one because it give us more answers and more lore and what she say in the prototype make more sense and more like Poppy but the YouTube channel uploaded "Poppy's gone" maybe be the effects of Mommy Long Legs webs or something along those lines.

the new music in pugapillar is everywhere at the end of time volume one. The album is supposed to symbolize what it feels like to have dementia. It’s kinda sad if you think about it :/ P.S the audio was tweaked a little bit because the creators of poppy playtime didn’t think it was scary enough. also i don’t really like mob games because they animation sinned a 15 year old animator if you want to learn more about this just look up animation sins.

Fun fact: The unused song playing for the game " statues" is a tweaked version of " It's just a burning memory " made by The Caretaker, I also like the idea of how they used this for the mini game, It made the game sound a bit more scary. If only they didn't remove the song for the final release of chapter 2.
