Every You Every Me
Soundtrack - Cruel Intentions Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every me and every you

Sucker love is heaven sent
You pucker up, our passion's spent
My hearts a tart your body's rent
My body's broken yours is bent
Carve your name into my arm
Instead of stressed I lie here charmed
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you

Sucker love a box I choose
No other box I choose to use
Another love I would abuse
No circumstances could excuse
In the shape of things to come
Too much poison come undone
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you (x2)
Every me

Sucker love is known to swing
Prone to cling and waste these things
Pucker up for heaven sake
There's never been so much at stake
I serve my head up on a plate
It's only comfort calling late
Cause there's nothing else to do
Every me and every you (x2)
Every me
Every me and every you
Every me

Like the naked leads the blind
I know I'm selfish I'm unkind
Sucker love I always find
Someone to bruise and leave behind
All alone in space and time
There's nothing here but what here's mine
Something borrowed something blue
Every me and every you (x2)
Every me
(x2)

Overall Meaning

The 1999 song "Every You Every Me" by Soundtrack - Cruel Intentions is a dark and moody piece that reflects on the emotions and desires that people have which can be intense and destructive. The lyrics suggest that people are often driven by their passions, which can lead to unwise and unhealthy relationships.

The opening lines, "Every me and every you," are a statement about the way people project themselves onto others, and how every person has both an inner self and an outer self that they show to the world. The next lines, "Sucker love is heaven sent / You pucker up, our passion's spent," describe the irresistible pull of love that people often feel, and how it can be consuming and draining. The singer then goes on to describe his own struggles with love, saying "My hearts a tart your body's rent / My body's broken yours is bent," which suggests that he has given too much of himself to another person, leaving him broken and scarred.

The rest of the song continues to explore the themes of love and desire, with lines such as "Sucker love a box I choose / No other box I choose to use / Another love I would abuse / No circumstances could excuse" suggesting that the singer is aware of his own self-destructive tendencies but cannot help himself. The chorus that repeats "Every me and every you" throughout the song is a reminder that we are all connected in our human experiences of love and longing.

the first time i listened to this song, i just loved to predict the lyrics. It's like poetry, i love how every word just comes together to rhyme with the next sentence. It's so meaningful, it just hit me like a damn bus. i have never had a love for something i cannot physically see or feel, I cannot help but fucking sob in joy whenever i hear this song. "like the naked leads the blind, i know i'm selfish, i'm unkind" i literally have to say that out loud when i hear this song, the theme of this song is so heavy and so nonchalant at the same time, giving me this feeling of a sunrise on a winter morning. LIKE, I've never been able to picture a song like i can with this. It's short and sweet, i absolutely cannot get enough of this band

in case you could not tell, i love placebo.

Placebo is still so underrated, people have no idea what they’re missing… Discovered them at 15 years old, around 2004, I’ve never looked back since. I do like other artists and bands, but none do it for me like Placebo does. Pure perfection. If you’re here too, then I like you, whoever you are. I won’t say what year it is, as I’ll be back here again as long as I live. Love you all and especially my dearest Placebo, who saw me through happy times and dark times. 💜😻😸

Everyone is NOT under rated. There are way way too many artists OVERRATED for all the wrong reasons. Most all of the rap today and all the other crap they play on the radio that continues to be made and perpetuated by the masses because they're brain dead and the entertainment companies do an astounding job making them the definition of today's "cool". By definition though, to be cool is to not be the mainstream. So yes, under rated= cool. When your mom, and your grandma, and little brother all know an artist, odds are, they are over rated!
