The Lonely Jew On Christmas
South Park Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's hard to be a Jew on Christmas
My Friends won't let me join in any games..
And I can't sing Christmas songs
Or decorate a Christmas tree..
Or leave water out for Rudolph
cos there's something wrong with me..
My people don't believe in Jesus Christ's divinity..
I'm a Jew, a Lonely Jew.. on Christmas.

Hanukkah is nice, but why is it,
That Santa passes over my house every year?
And instead of eating Ham
I have to eat Kosher LATKEES..
Instead of Silent Night
I'm singing hou-hazch-tou-gavish..
And what the fuck is up
With lighting all these fucking Candles, tell me please?
I'm a Jew, a Lonely Jew..
I can't be merry, cos I'm hebrew.. on Christmas

Hey Little Boy, I can't help but hear,
You're feeling left out of Christmas Cheer..
But i've come to see that you shouldn't be sad
'Cos this is the one month that you shoud be glad..

Because it's nice to be a Jew on Christmas
You don't have to deal with the season at all..
You don't have to be on your best behaviour, or give to charity
You don't have to go to grandma's house with your alcoholic family..
And I don't have to sit on some fake Santa's lap
And have him breathe his stinky breath on me!

That's right! You're a Jew, a Stylin' Jew..
It's a good time, to be Hebrew.. on Christmas.

Overall Meaning

The South Park song "The Lonely Jew on Christmas" is a comical take on the experience of being a Jew during the Christmas holiday. The lyrics describe the feelings of exclusion and loneliness that come with not being able to fully participate in the festivities of the holiday. The singer laments that his friends won't let him join in any games, he can't sing Christmas songs, decorate a Christmas tree, or leave water out for Rudolph. He is stuck eating kosher latkes instead of ham and singing Jewish songs instead of Silent Night. The song highlights the contrast between the two holidays and illustrates the struggle of trying to fit in during an exclusive celebration.

However, towards the end of the song, the singer takes a positive turn and declares that it's actually nice to be a Jew on Christmas. He reasons that one doesn't have to deal with the stress of the holiday season, be on their best behavior, give to charity, or deal with a dysfunctional family. The song ultimately celebrates the uniqueness and individuality of the Jewish culture and offers a different perspective on the Christmas season.

Overall, "The Lonely Jew on Christmas" is a humorous and relatable song for those who have ever felt left out or excluded during the holiday season. It acknowledges the struggles of being different but also offers a lighthearted and hopeful outlook.

Here's how the Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer would sing this:
It's hard to be a Red Nosed Reindeer on Christmas
My friends won't let me join in any games
And I can't sing Christmas songs or decorate a Christmas tree
Or guide Santa's sleigh 'cause there is something wrong with me
The other reindeer don't believe in my nose's divinity!

I'm a reindeer
A lonely reindeer
On Christmas.

My red nose is nice, but why is it
That other Reindeer would bully me every year?
And instead of being normal, I have to be called names.
Instead of Reindeer Games, I'm playing all by myself
And what the frick is up with my frickin light up nose? Tell me, please!
I'm a reindeer
A lonely reindeer
I'd be normal
But I'm different
On Christmas.

i love the fact that kyle knows santa and jesus personally yet he's still jewish lmao

oogie boogie

i don't think the belief in santa matters in the jewish religion, but most jews acknowledge jesus was a person! they just don't believe he is the messiah or the son of the god.

@oogie boogie yeah kind of hard to do that after you stuck him on a stick

Gengar's Master

Technically, Jesus is Jewish. Plus, according to South Park, the only religion that leads to heaven is Mormon.
