ECSTASY
Soviet Soviet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Keep in the darkness and need to die
To see my face and collapse in red
Everyday I'm loosing time, reading my brain
And collapse in red

Keep in the darkness and need to die
To see my face and collapse in red
Everyday while I'm coming home, I see you again
Collapsing in red

Something wrong
Liberty was hard
But Sunday everything's okay

All systems intact
On your chest

Overall Meaning

The song "Ecstasy" by Soviet Soviet speaks of a darker desire to keep oneself in the shadows and eventually collapse in red (presumably, into a pool of one's own blood). The lyrics depict a feeling of losing oneself and going through a mental decline, where time seems to slip away and one's brain seems to be deteriorating. The repetition of the phrase "To see my face and collapse in red" hints at a deeper desire to confront one's own mortality and potentially end it all.

The lyrics also mention the concept of liberty being hard and the idea that everything is okay on Sundays. This could be taken as a commentary on the mundanity and routine of everyday life, where the only escape is through the darkness and the thoughts of collapsing in red. The final line "On your chest" could be interpreted in different ways, but perhaps it is a reference to someone close who is providing some sort of solace or support amidst the desire to self-destruct.
