In 2007, Haden released a solo album, but also reformed the band with new members Tom Gladders (guitar), Randy Kirk (keyboards, guitar), and Matt Mahal (drums). To commemorate Spain's first shows in over six years, the band performed The Blue Moods Of Spain live in its entirety at the 2007 Tanned Tin festival in Castellón, Spain. This was followed by several shows in the U.S. A new studio album, produced by Soulsavers' Rich Machin, is scheduled for release in 2009.
Josh Haden's triplet sisters were in the 90's violin power pop outfit That Dog.
Bad Woman Blues
Spain Lyrics

More trouble than she is worth
More trouble than she will ever be worth
I knew I could get away
Knew it wasn't good to stay
Knew it wouldn't ever be good to stay
For I have touched her deep inside
Why can't these people understand
Why I am so sad, so sad
They ask me if I can see
She'll lead to the death of me
She'll lead someday to the death of me
But they may have overlooked
That I have become so hooked
That I have now become so hooked
I couldn't leave her if I tried
For I have touched her deep inside
Why can't these people understand
Why I am so sad, so sad
Spain's song "Bad Woman Blues" is a melancholic piece that explores the pull of a toxic relationship that the singer of the song knows is harmful, but cannot bring himself to leave. The lyrics reflect on the opinions of other people who view the woman as a curse and see her as more trouble than she is worth. The singer acknowledges that he knows it isn't good to stay with her, but he can't help the fact that he's hooked on her. He expresses his sadness at the fact that others can't understand why he feels the way he does.
The song is a commentary on the way that some people become trapped in unhealthy relationships, where even though they recognize the harmful effects they still remain attached, almost addicted to the relationship. It's an honest admission of human fallibility - the fact that we are capable of loving someone who is bad for us, and that there is often something deep within us that makes it hard to let go.
Overall, Spain's "Bad Woman Blues" is a poignant piece that speaks to the complexities of human relationships and how they could affect us emotionally.
