The band's long career has seen them successfully adopt many different musical genres; including glam pop, power pop, electronic dance music and mainstream pop. Despite these many styles, a recognizable "Sparks sound" remains throughout, and they have enjoyed a large cult following since their first releases. Sparks have been highly influential on the development of popular music, in particular on the late 1970s scene, when in collaboration with Giorgio Moroder (and Telex subsequently), they reinvented themselves as an electronic pop duo, and abandoned the traditional rock band line up. In contrast to the esteem in which they are held by such peers as Depeche Mode, New Order, Morrissey and They Might Be Giants, who all cite Sparks as a major influence, their almost constantly changing styles and unique visual presentations have sometimes seen them dismissed as a novelty act.
The 2002 release of Lil' Beethoven, their self-described "genre-defining opus", and 2006's Hello Young Lovers (their 20th studio album) have brought Sparks renewed critical and commercial success, and seen them continue to "steer clear of pop conventions."
The 2021 documentary film 'The Sparks Brothers', directed by Edgar Wright, has renewed interest in the band for a new audience.
Kiss Me Quick

Hot and right
No confusion
Paradise
Never panic
We're alone
Kiss me quick
There's the phone
Lips that taste of cigarettes and California wine
Lips that taste of fancy food, you drive me out of my mind
I really wish you'd kiss me one more time
Kiss me quick
Melt the ice
College ideas
High school eyes
Paramedic
Dressed in white
Kiss me quick
Save my life
Lips that taste of foreign words and complimentary lies
Lips that make a nervous wreck of any normal guy
I really wish you'd kiss me one more time
Kiss me quick
Wake me up
Caffeine kisses
Not enough
Jungle fever
Insect bites
Weird religions
Pagan rites
Lips that taste of cigarettes and California wine
Lips that taste of fancy food, you drive me out of my mind
I really wish you'd kiss me one more time
The song "Kiss Me Quick" by Sparks is an ode to the power of a passionate kiss. The lyrics are full of vivid imagery and nostalgia, painting a picture of two lovers caught up in the moment. The song begins with the command to "Kiss me quick," setting the tone for the urgent, feverish mood that pervades the rest of the song. The lyric "Hot and right, No confusion, Paradise" emphasizes the feeling of being lost in the moment, with no thought or worry about what may come next.
The lyrics go on to describe the taste of the other person's lips, portraying them as being imbued with a mixture of flavors ranging from California wine to foreign words and complimentary lies. The kiss is likened to a beverage, with "Caffeine kisses, Not enough." However, despite the temporary relief that the kiss provides, there is always an element of danger, as seen in the line "Paramedic, Dressed in white, Kiss me quick, Save my life." The suggestion is that the kiss is so overwhelming it could lead to a need for medical intervention.
The final verse of the song has a more surreal feel, with references to "Jungle fever, Insect bites, Weird religions, Pagan rites." The idea seems to be that the kiss has taken the lovers to a heightened state of consciousness, where the boundaries between reality and fantasy begin to blur. The repetition of the line "I really wish you'd kiss me one more time" at the end of each verse emphasizes the intensity of the desire felt by the singer.
