Pandora
Splashdown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A lavender tide
Breaks almond green
Exploding in nightfall's garden
Where lovers play unforseen
Suggestive in movement, sight, and sound
A gentle advancement would be so much more profound

I do, I do, I do, I do, I
I feel so elated
Would you, would you, would you, would you
Please bring me joy

A chronic desire
Is doomed to bloom in winter
And die with the passing seasons never to return
The lighter the touch, the longer sensation lingers
Too close to empassioned fire
May bring misfortune's burn

Pandora plays with frenzied exaltation
Waiting for my strength to be undone
Indulgence lead my senses to a place
Where joy is a roll in the garden of delights with no hope of spring

Indulgence lead me to a place where joy is waiting for my strength to be undone...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Splashdown's song Pandora paint a vivid picture of a night-time garden where lovers play. The first stanza describes the beauty of the scene: a lavender tide breaking against almond green, creating an explosion of colors. The lovers' movements are suggestive, and the lyrics suggest that a gentle approach would be more profound. The second stanza describes the potential consequences of being too passionate, while the third stanza hints at the dangers of indulgence. The chorus adds a note of optimism, suggesting that joy is possible, but only if approached with care.

The song seems to be exploring the idea of balance in love and desire. The garden is a metaphorical space where these opposing forces can come together, but the lyrics caution against giving in too easily to temptation. This theme is reinforced by the reference to Pandora, the mythological figure who opened a box containing all the evils of the world. The song suggests she is playing with frenzied exaltation, waiting for the singer's strength to be undone. This could be read as a warning against giving in to our darker impulses.

Overall, the lyrics to Splashdown's Pandora are rich with imagery and symbolism. The song seems to explore the nature of desire in a poetic and introspective way, alluding to the dangers of indulgence while still holding out hope for joy.

The mid to late 90s had these amazing gems like Splashdown, Darling Violetta, Chainsuck, 60 Channels among others...

underrated band!

I really like this song too, but just feel like there was the potential for a really sick hook for the chorus they never figured out, something that would have gone right after that guitar line at 0:46.
