Under The Wheel
Split Enz and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Lyrics

Had stars in your eyes
They said you were bright
Had all the ideas in your head
Under the wheel
For all those years
Under the wheel
But now they all stand back and shout
Go on you creep, go on get out
Oh my god what are they on about
And I think I'll get on back home to my mother
Yes I think I'll get on back home to my mother x2
It doesn't seem real
The way things turned out
It doesn't seem real
Now your heads full of doubt
But now they all jump back in fear
As if I really care
They just stand and stare
It's not fair...
It's not fair.
It's not fair!!...
Cold and silent you lie in the dark waters of the stream
Shame and suffering have passed
But death, glorious death is just another bed to sleep
Yes death, glorious death
Is just another appointment to keep
The song Under The Wheel by Split Enz and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra depicts the story of a person who was once considered bright and full of innovative ideas, but has been entrapped in hardship and frustration for years. The lyrics talk about how people used to admire this person, but with time everything changed, and the people who once praised him now despise him. The phrase "Under the wheel for all those years" implies the subject was oppressed by society and could not fulfill their potential. Despite this, they are continuously being patronized, but the person doesn't seem to care anymore. Instead, they choose to leave and return back to their mother.
The lyrics reflect the idea of being stuck in life and the struggle of being unable to achieve success. The tone is full of melancholy and regret and the character realizes too late that what was once an amazing life, ended up as a bleak existence. The line "Cold and silent you lie in the dark waters of the stream, shame, and suffering have passed" implies that the person has given up, and the idea of a glorious death excites them. The song conveys a message that we should never stop dreaming or fighting for what’s right, as the consequences of being trapped under the wheel can be devastating.

@@asimoes1974 no idea why you mentioned a parade, but the situation im thinking of is a what if situation.
Say its mid summer, 30 degrees C with no wind and a few scum bags come and ram the gate in a sort of fashion to over throw the hierarchy and send a msg to the world. After ramming the gate their vehicle stops working so these guys get out and charge for the front doors "where is the front 2 guards and the door guard" you may ask, ah well one tried to shoot the vehicle and landed a few shots however missed his target because he was wearing an animal over his eyes, and the second one passed out while making a dash towards the truck. Which resulted in one of the 2 dieing, (one went unchecked with heat stroke for several hours and the other hit by the truck he barely saw)
The front door guards attempted to put up a fight againsed the (lets say 4 men in a bullet proof vest and a t shirt and cargo pants) these 4 men easily take down these trained killers by simply knocking them down with a gun, these guards r tired from just working 1 hour 50 minutes in the scorching sun and are exausted, one attempts to raise his gun to shoot but because of his thick and heavy clothes he didnt raise his arm in time and died.
These men make it inside where they are gunned down because im sure interior floor security is wearing normal bullet proof vests and sports suits (normal looking suits for a professional look but are actually rather stretchy and allow for gymnastics)....
I fabricated the last part, but im just saying you may not make it to actually kill the queen no matter how hard one may try, but the presidents white house is much more secure and has stronger personel at hand because they arent arrogant enough to force their fighters into the damn flag just rep their country (or patriotic enough? idk i dont think im using the right term but you know what i mean)

in 2021......Canadian troops have once again been named to perform as the Queen’s Guard in London.
Some 80 members of the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) are heading to the UK along with 35 members of the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) band.
The Canadian soldiers will take up their guard duty positions on October 21 and continue until November 12.
The Queen’s Guard are soldiers charged, in support of the civil authorities, with guarding the Sovereign and the official royal residences in the UK. These include Buckingham Palace, St. James’s Palace, Windsor Castle and the Tower of London.
This is especially significant as they will be acting as sentries during this 100th anniversary year of the end of the First World War.
@LightriverArt
Just to point out, most of the information in this video is flat out made up, if not wrong.
There is no jail sentence for making a guard smile or talk.
There is no height requirement for signing up for it - any soldier can do so, whether they get in or not is up to the quality of the application.
British soldiers are, compartive to other armies, well trained but not only the elite and most decorated war heroes perform duty as guard. They are not necessarily the most elite well trained soldiers. It's not like they're all Marines, Paras and SAS. Any soldier that has served some tours of duty can do it.
I mean he repeats throughout the video "most elite and decorated" it's not the case.
They don't have to be from one of 7 specific regiments of the army, also I don't know what he means with "exclusive" regiments like they're some sort of club? Weird description.
They aren't picked, they volunteer for it, he got that wrong too.
Their ceremonial uniforms are not worn in combat, only at their guard posts and patrols.
There is no "English" army, it's British.
There's a lot of talk about "Sacred Oaths" and "Ancient orders" hahahahaha they aren't the Knights Templar they're soldiers im uniform.
Many of the clips aren't showing real guards, but what look like actors. And Guards from other countries.
But other than that, yeah accurate video!

@Benjd0
A lot of this is fairly misleading or just perpetuating myths, military prison is a potential punishment for any soldier in the Army, but it's reserved for only the worst offences. Making a guard laugh would at most be a fine from their pay, although from what I've heard, these days that's probably unlikely too, probably depends more on who notices if they do.
