In the 80's, this would come on Disney every Halloween morning at about 5-6AM. I'd get up early in anticipation. It was the kick off to Halloween for me. Great memories. 🎃

This is so cool to me. I grew up in the 90's, and it was similar. Disney channel would really go all out and EVERY single promo, commercial, episode, made it clear that IT WAS HALLOWEEN! I used to feel the electricity in the air. Most kids don't even have cable or tv anymore, there's no "season" feelings.. I really miss that. It feels like Halloween came and went this year :( My favorite holiday.
Gonna have to make next twice as spooky and go all out. If Halloween spirit doesn't come to you, create and spread it! Now I'm gonna go watch a Haunted Mansion type movie to get the spooks!

The date at the end shows that it was released in 1929. This was only one year after the first Micky Mouse experiments were drawn, and five years after the first Disney release (Alice’s Wonderland). The Soviet Union were already producing advanced and artful cartoons at this time also.

My grandmother was a little girl when this movie was released, and she saw it. She was so terrified when the skeleton jumped at the camera, that she remembered it for the rest of her life. She lived to be 96, and she'd never let me play it on video for her, even though it's one of my favourite cartoons.

This was made in 1929. Maybe some of the animators or creative directors were WWI vets. Plus there had been the Spanish Flu, but even if they didn't go to war or were too young, those tremendous events with so much death would've been engrained in their formative years.

Fun fact: the sound for the beginning is a recording of the 1933 mickeymouse-The mad doctor which they used it so it wouldn't cost more to play a song for the beginning and just use music they had in store

I’m going to go out on a limb and say you’re not older than 93 years old, esp w your username and how you say your beg your dad to “put it on”, which I’m guessing means put it on the TV, when that wasn’t possible back when it cane out!!

I’m guessing what you’re thinking of is seeing it played on TV, esp during spooky season and that you guys had recorded it and other old cartoons and specials on to VHS, which your dad could pop on TV for you guy to watch and enjoy!!
