But while Sprung Monkey made their name in surf, skate, and snowboard flicks, they earned their reputation on the road. Tours with Blink 182 and the Offspring and slots on the Van's Warped Tour and ESPN's X-Games introduced loads of fans to this kick-ass So Cal band, and 6 Australian tours (so far) made them a worldwide phenomenon (or Angus Young's love children, at least).
Which brings us to the reason we're here: "Get A Taste". Sprung Monkey's newest CD combines the raw energy of "Swirl" and "Mr. Funny Face" with the experience and inspiration of a band that's been through it all. With previous discs selling in the hundreds of thousands, Sprung Monkey takes things to the next level--"Get a Taste" has more hooks than a meat locker and more attitude than Johnny Knoxville's jock strap.
Sprung Monkey 2002, but reformed in 2005.

A man stands proud as he peddles his wares
Expedient over confident because he knows he holds your pride
In his hand demands that's how he makes his proud stance because he
Knows that you're gonna come back as effects die well so do your insides
Just like hope and pride it all dies
Outside the hard times man,
Outside the hard times man
Here he comes a dead man walking
He's ready to kill for the answer to his problems
He's got to need that, he's gotta to feed
He's drawing the solution enters another problem
As the bullets fly I can't believe my eyes
I see the faces filled with terror
Fleeing for their lives cause a effects die well so do your insides
Just like hope and pride it all dies
Outside the hard times man
People die
And it all comes back to me the pain and suffering
Well you played yourself now it's hard times man
Well it all comes back to me
Sweat drips out from the need
Well you played yourself now it's hard times man
How much can I take
When I surrender my feelings I suffer now
In hard times hard times
How much can I take
When I surrender my feelings I suffer now in
Hard times
In hard fuckin' times
The song 'Hard Times' by Sprung Monkey is an introspective piece that invites the listener to examine the consequences of their actions, both personal and social, in times of crisis. The opening lines describe a scene of an urban life plagued by drugs, poverty, and crime where people are forced to do whatever it takes to survive. The reference to the "man on the corner" selling drugs portrays a society where people have lost their pride, hope, and personal belongings because of their addiction to drugs. The lyrics suggest that people remain unapologetic towards this hard-lived life cost, and it is a fundamental reason why such exploitation continues.
The second verse introduces a character who is willing to resort to desperate measures to achieve his desires. The use of "dead man walking" signifies that the person is living a life with no concerns for tomorrow, and his life's choices boil down to his basic needs. The song then climaxes with the realization of how your actions can impact others and cause suffering for each other. It ends with a somber note, questioning how much suffering one can endure before they start to surrender to their feelings.
