Clark released her début album, Marry Me, 10 July 2007 on Beggars Banquet Records. Named after a line from the cult-hit television show Arrested Development, the LP features appearances from drummer Brian Teasley (Man or Astro-man?, The Polyphonic Spree), Mike Garson (David Bowie's longtime pianist), and horn player Louis Schwadron (The Polyphonic Spree).
In 2008 Clark was nominated for three PLUG Independent Music Awards: New Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year, and on 6 March 2008, she won the Female Artist of the Year award.
Her second album for 4AD, entitled Actor, was released on 5 May 2009. It was written entirely by Clark and produced by Clark and John Congleton of The Paper Chase.
The Strange Mercy Songfacts reports that Clark wrote her third album in Seattle. She decamped to the Northwestern city to escape from the information overload she was experiencing at home and recorded Strange Mercy in a studio provided by Death Cab For Cutie drummer Jason McGerr. The album was released by 4AD on September 12, 2011 and peaked at #19 on the Billboard 200, making it her first Top 20 LP.

St. Vincent Lyrics

All of your loves, your loves
I wanna love them, too, ya know?
Bring me your loves
All of your loves, your loves
I wanna love them, too, ya know?
Bring me your loves
All of your loves, your loves
Bring me your loves
All of your loves, your loves
I wanna love them, too, ya know?
I thought you were like a dog
I thought you were like a dog
But you made a pet of me
Bring me your loves
All of your loves, your loves
I wanna love them, too, ya know?
I, I took you off your leash
I, I took you off your leash
But I can't, no I can't make you heel
Bring me your loves
Bring me your loves
We both have our rabid hearts
Feral from the very start
Bring me your loves
All of your loves, your loves
I wanna love them, too, ya know?
The song "Bring Me Your Loves" by St. Vincent is a complex exploration of love and the nature of human relationships. The repeated refrain of "Bring me your loves" is a plea for the singer's lover to share all their past and present loves with her, so she can understand and be a part of them too. She wants to share every experience and emotion with her lover, no matter how messy or complicated it may be. The line "I thought you were like a dog, but you made a pet of me" suggests that the singer was initially subservient and obedient to her lover, but now both have become equal partners.
The verses contain a metaphorical reference to the animalistic nature of human love. The singer compares herself and her lover to dogs with "rabid hearts" and a wild, feral nature. She suggests that their love can't be tamed or controlled, no matter how hard they may try. The line "We both have our rabid hearts, feral from the very start" indicates that their love is based on a primal, instinctual level that transcends social norms or expectations.
Overall, "Bring Me Your Loves" is a complex exploration of love that doesn't shy away from the messiness or complications that come with it. The singer is asking for complete honesty and transparency from her lover, while also acknowledging the untamable, wild nature of their love.
