Don't Be That Way
Stacey Kent Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Clouds in the sky should never make you feel that way
The rain will bring the violets of May, tears are in vain
So honey, please don't be that way.
As long as we see it through,
You'll have me, I'll have you.
Sweetheart, tomorrow is another day,
Oh honey, please don't be that way.

The tone of the song is one of gentle encouragement towards optimism and hope, urging her lover to keep faith that tomorrow will bring a better day. She reminds her lover that they are there for each other no matter the situation and that together they can face any challenge. The song ends with a final plea to not break her heart and to continue to stay strong, with the promise that the clouds will eventually pass.
