I've Got a Crush On You
Stacey Kent Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All the day and night-time give me sigh
I never had the least notion
That I could fall with so much emotion
Could you coo, could you care
For a cunning cottage we could share
The world will pardon my mush
How glad the many millions of timothies and lillians
Would be to capture me
But you had such persistence, you wore down my resistance
I fell and it was swell
You 're my big and brave and handsome romeo
How I won you I shall never never know
Its not that you're attractive
But, oh, my heart grew active
When you came into view
I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie
All the day and night-time give me sigh
I never had the least notion
That I could fall with so much emotion
Could you coo, could you care
For a cunning cottage we could share
The world will pardon my mush
Cause I have got a crush my baby on you
Yes I've got crush my baby on you
Stacey Kent's "I've Got a Crush on You" is a charming and romantic ode to falling deeply in love with someone. The lyrics express the feelings of utter infatuation the singer has for her beloved. The use of the term "sweetie pie" suggests that the person being addressed holds a special place in the singer's heart.
The opening lines of the song make it clear that the singer is smitten, as she confesses to having a crush on her love interest. The use of the phrase "give me sigh" suggests that this infatuation is more than just a fleeting fancy. The second verse suggests that the singer has fallen with great emotion, which is a powerful sentiment in any relationship.
The chorus is a plea for the object of her affection to love her back. She asks if they could "coo" and "care" together in a "cunning cottage". The final lines of the song show that the singer knows that her mushy, love-struck feelings might be seen as foolish, but she simply cannot help the way she feels.
