Mais uma vez
O ceù azul voltou
A chuva jà parou
A primaveira m’ensinou amar Vocé
Mais uma vez
Os rios obdecerᾶo aquela leia antiga
Que manda em minha vida
Restituida
Mais uma vez
Mais uma vez
sonhei que as flores voltavam
E um passaroco usava todo o azul do ceù
Do nosso ceù
Mais uma vez
Me lembro o que dissemos
O que desdissemos
Sossego que nᾶo queremos
Sossego que nᾶo quisemos
Dizer adeus
Mais uma vez
Mais uma vez
Aqui em frente ao espelho
Invento e troco concelho
Me dou o que nᾶo tenho
Eu vou mais sempre venho
Mais uma vez
O amor que a gente faz
O amor que a gente fez
O que morreu e hoje naceu em ceù
Mais uma vez

The Portuguese lyrics to Stacey Kent's song "Mais Uma Vez" (once again) speak of hope, renewal, and a return to love. The first verse describes the end of rain and the return of blue skies, which signals the arrival of spring and with it the return to the beloved. The second verse speaks of the ancient laws that govern rivers, suggesting a return to order and stability in life. The last verse expresses the desire to return to love, whether with a specific person or in the abstract. The chorus repeats the phrase "mais uma vez" as a declaration of hope and determination to try again.
Throughout the song, there are moments of reflection and self-reinvention. The line "aqui em frente ao espelho" (here in front of the mirror) suggests a literal or figurative self-examination, an opportunity to give oneself what is lacking or to try something new. The line "o que desdissemos" (what we unsaid) may imply a conversation that never happened or a chance to express things left unspoken. In many ways, the song is about second chances and the power of renewal.
Overall, the song is a celebration of life, love, and the beauty of the world around us, even in difficult times. It encourages listeners to embrace hope, to seek renewal, and to cherish the people and experiences that matter most.
