Unique in that that they solely cover music from the original NES console, they differ also from their video game cover band counterparts by incorporating original songs, as inspired by these very NES games.
Initially a studio effort, Stage 3-1 has assembled a live band due to popular request. Live performances are planned for the summer of 2007.
Joining original members Weston Sagle and Kevin Beswick was Steven Sagle, a video game enthusiast and NES connoisseur. To achieve the full NES metal sound, Brian Mikkila and Julian Ursano were incorporated to round out the live band.
The full-length album LEVEL UP!, featuring reinvented old favourites and originals, will be released sometime in late 2007. The album is currently in progress.

The lyrics to Stage 3-1's song "Super Mario Bros." depict a narrative centered around the character Peach and her romantic relationship with Mario. The opening lines express Mario's love for Peach, referring to her as "Peach, mi amor," indicating a deep emotional connection. The mention of "mi estrella" suggests that Mario sees Peach as his guiding star, emphasizing the importance she holds in his life.
The following lines convey Mario's confidence in their relationship, asserting that there is no room for error with their connection. The phrase "Gobernaremos al amanecer" can be interpreted as Mario and Peach's willingness to take charge and lead together, suggesting a sense of power and control.
The repetition of "Peaches" in the chorus serves a rhythmic purpose, creating a catchy melody. It intensifies the affection Mario feels, emphasizing his adoration for Peach. The exclamation of "Yo te quiero!" further emphasizes Mario's intense love for Peach.
The subsequent lines introduce other characters from the Mario franchise, including Luigi, Donkey Kong, and the Koopas. Mario mentions that his army of Koopas failed to fulfill their duty, suggesting that they were meant to protect Peach but were unsuccessful. This further emphasizes Mario's determination to be the one who takes care of and protects Peach.
The chorus repeats once again, highlighting Mario's love and desire for Peach. His declaration of "Oh!" can be seen as an expression of both passion and longing, further emphasizing the intensity of his feelings.
Overall, these lyrics convey Mario's deep love and devotion to Peach, his confidence in their relationship, and his determination to be the one to protect and care for her. The repetition and catchy melodies within the song create a sense of energy and excitement, reflecting the joyful and adventurous spirit of the Super Mario Bros. game.

It's nice to see an "ordinary" playthrough of this game. No speedrunning, no tool-assistance, just playing. It's not my favorite of the Mario games, and I've only beaten it once on NES, but seeing this makes me want to play it again, and maybe come to like it as much as I like the others. :)
@wtcvidman
Cool. I always loved this game and I really like World 3-1.
@geefreck
0:14 is actually based on a real life waterfall that you can jump down 30 stories, land, survive, and go in a door where you can grab coins out of the floor.
@wtcvidman
Yeah, they let you try for extra lives in the jackpot machine bonus after each level. The player gets 1 try per coin where a potential of 1, 2, or 5 extra lives can be gotten with each try.
@Mina_Fox_90
Cool. That level's pretty fun. :D

So when you started playing, you never collected coins, or was it that you didn't know that the coins are what gave you the Bonus Chance opportunities? I played this game on the NES & found out fairly quickly between me, my brother & my friend. I think the manual also mentions it, though I'm not sure if the manual of the SNES version went into that much detail since there were like 4 or 5 games in 1 in that version.
