Sunday
Stan Getz/Oscar Peterson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ooh

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, please look down and see my people through.

I believe that God put sun and moon up in the sky.
I don't mind the gray skies
'cause they're just clouds passing by.

Heaven is a goodness time.
A brighter light on high.

Do unto others as you would have them do to you.

And have a brighter by and by.

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, please look down and see my people through.

I believe God is now, was then and always will be.
With God's blessing we can make it through eternity.

Lord, dear Lord above, God almighty,
God of love, please look down and see my people through.

Still drum-less but the trio (or maybe on Norman Granz suggestion) added one of the best lyrical tenorists. They’re jammin’ relentlessly. and with great vigour. And i can assure you that no sheet-music stands were used. Pure improvisation as it should be. Dig this gem, toodeloo’s & Cheers!

In tune

By not having a drummer which with this Trio is really not necessary it gives breathing room to hear Stan Getz.
Herb Ellis ,locked with Ray Brown leaves no doubt where the beat is.
I love this "West Coast version" of the Oscar Peterson Trio

@In tune Apparently OP got the inspiration from the Nat (King) Cole trio. These kind off trio’s became rather popular during the early 50’s. Eventually Herbie left and drummer Ed Thigpen took his place. And yes RB sets the strong beat, as he always did. Be well & Cheers!
