Agora amor, Doralice meu bem
Agora amor, Doralice meu bem
Como é que nós vamos fazer?
Um belo dia você me surgiu
The lyrics of Stan Getz's song Doralice express the internal struggle of a man named Doralice who is torn between his desire for love and commitment and his fear of the risks and vulnerabilities involved. Doralice questions the worth of love and sees it as a foolish illusion that only leads to heartbreak and disappointment. He prefers the solitude of his own company while listening to the melancholic sound of his guitar. Despite his reluctance, Doralice falls in love with a woman who insists on being with him. He acknowledges that something was telling him to walk away, but he couldn't resist the urge to stay. Doralice knows that he doesn't want to get married and is hesitant about the future. He seeks guidance from his love interest, asking her how they are going to make it work amidst their differences.
The song conveys a sense of nostalgia and longing, as the melody of the saxophone enhances the lyrical reflection of the singer. Musically, it is a bossa nova song that features the saxophone as the lead instrument. The rhythmic pattern of the song is in 4/4 time, and the melody is constructed around the chord progression of Dmaj7, Dmaj6, D7, Gmaj7, Gm7, and A7. The use of dissonant chords and the juxtaposition of major and minor chords adds depth to the song.

João didn't do music, he did magic. Like Robert Johnson. No one who tries to play like them can even scratch the surface of their genius.
