Because I'm thinking of you;
Time out for tears,
My darling, now that we're through
You know that I
Never wanted our plan to end,
And you know that I
Try again
Time out for tears,
My heart is yearning for you
All through the years
Here's what I'll do;
I'm gonna spend my time,
And dance and dine,
Playing with somebody new,
But there'll be time out for tears
Whenever I think of you
I'm gonna spend my time,
And dance and dine,
Playing with somebody new,
But there'll be time out for tears
Whenever I think of you
The song "Time For A Change" by Stan Kenton and His Orchestra is a melancholic tune about heartbreak and moving on with life. The lyrics suggest that even though the singer has to move on, they still feel deeply about their previous partner. They are trying to distract themselves by indulging in other activities such as dancing, life, and possibly dating someone new, but ultimately, the memory of their previous partner still lingers on their mind. The song portrays the struggle of keeping emotions in check while trying to move forward after a heartbreaking experience.
The artist tries to convey the nostalgic feeling of lost love through the melody that is quite slow-paced and melancholic. The horns and the drum play a significant role in the song, emphasizing the raw emotion that the singer goes through. The lyrics use phrases such as "Time out for tears" and "whenever I think of you" to indicate that the artist is still hurting, and they need to stop occasionally and allow themselves to grieve for the past. In this way, the artist creates a poignant and introspective mood that is relatable to anyone who has experienced the pain of heartbreak.

Every time I hear a Hank Levy chart, I just want to smile. He was truly a master craftsman!

I can't listen to this without crying. Stan is no longer with us and ever since he died, the entire world has become so much duller. Ans Hank Levy!!!! How could anyone write such beautiful and lyrical music yet still swing like the dickens. I had the great good fortune of meeting both of these men on several occasions i still consider these meetings as some of the high points of my life!!!!!!

I was in tears too, when I read your comment. I had the privilege to be in Dick Shearer's big band, the year after Stan passed. RIP I wore this vinyl out.
Tim Grimes
Jay Francis I agree totally. And my mom even named me after this master - Timothy Kenton Grimes

I too had the privilege of knowing these two. They were both patrons of my high school band. We had what was called the Hank Levy Jazz Award. I was privileged to win this award in 1980. I attended a memorial concert for Stan after his passing and got to go back stage and meet my idol, Roy Reynolds. In 1979 I got Hank to put Sing Sing Sing from Benny Goodman,s Carnegie Hall concert on paper for our band. Music is diminished without these men.

The tenor solo by Roy Reynolds is superb, I got to know Roy really well when the Kenton band were touring in th 70's he was from Brum and joined the Canadian Air Force, what a lovely guy.

My high school had an excellent music department and my teacher was a huge Stan Kenton fan. During my four years we played several of the Hank Levy charts and this one was my favorite. They were all great, and while I loved them all, I loved the melody of this one best.
