The lyrics to the Polish sea shanty "Syrenka" by Stare Dzwony tells the tale of a captain and his crew sailing the treacherous seas when suddenly they see a beautiful mermaid. The mermaid's enchanting beauty distracts the captain and causes him to lose control of the ship, sending them straight towards the bottom of the ocean. The crew becomes afraid as the ocean rages around them and they realize that the nearest land is the ocean floor. The captain's fear causes him to lose his grip on the steering wheel and the ship is tossed around by the stormy waters, eventually leading to its ultimate destruction. Meanwhile, the crew members begin to contemplate their impending deaths and the things they will miss on land, including loved ones and their last bit of money which they know will sink to the bottom of the sea.
The lyrics are a warning about the dangers of allowing oneself to be distracted by beauty or other temptations. The crew is so taken by the mermaid's beauty that they forget to focus on their ultimate goal which is to safely sail the rough seas. The lyrics also show the harsh realities of life as a sailor, where death is always a possibility and one's life can be snuffed out at any moment. Despite the tragic ending of the song, the chorus's repetition of "A najblizsza nam ziemia to dno" (The nearest land to us is the bottom) shows that even in the face of death, the crew members maintain a sense of solidarity and acceptance of their fate.

moje wspomnie związane z tą piosenką jest dość miłe, mianowicie - stoimy krypą na redzie lagosu, chyba z pincet statków , żar leje sie z nieba , wiatru 0- delfiny pier.... się w wodzie a ja na wachcie na kotwicy ujarany w okularach wachtuje 2nd off-no kurwa wachta ...jak to mówiąc -po nowoczesnemu-Sztos.
