Broken Wings
Stargazers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

With Broken wings, no bird can fly
And broken promises mean love must fade and die
I trusted you, you can''t be true
My heart no longer sings
It''s wings are broken too

Life was wonderful
I flew as high as a bird in the sky
Dreaming of you
Dreams coming true
Then in your eyes
I saw lies in disguise
You broke me heart in two

With Broken wings, no bird can fly
And broken promises mean lLove must fade and die
With Broken wings, no bird can fly

My heart no longer sings
It''s wings are broken too.

My late wife had a very good singing voice, she would sing as she worked either doing housework or making dresses, colourful skirts and petticoats. She was multi-talented. She made evening dresses from expensive night dresses, not only making stuff for herself, but also her friends. It was for the week-end parties that I took her and my DJ kit to. It was the 1950s and we had met one afternoon and become engaged the same evening, marrying four months later. She would happily sing any song to me, especially Doris Day songs as she was a big fan. This is one song that she always refused to sing to me, she would say "I'm not tempting providence." And she would sing something else. She passed away in 2010 age 76, after 56 happy years.
