Days of Summer
Starkid Productions Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ron:
We got these days of summer to
Remind us of each other

Hermione:
The time we have to spend apart
Will keep us in each other's hearts
Harry:
I'm hoping that the good old days are
Something I will dream about at night

Draco:
Don't matter if it's soon or later
I know that it's gonna be alright!

Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco:
I don't wanna see you go
But it's not forever, not forever!
Even it was, you know that
I would never let it get me down

'Cause you're the part of me
That makes me better, wherever I go!
So I will try, not to cry
But no one needs to say goodbye...

(Instrumental)

All:
Don't wanna see you go
But it's not forever, not forever!
Even it was, you know that
I would never let it get me down

You're the part of me
That makes me better, wherever I go!

So I will try, not to cry
But no one needs to say goodbye...

Overall Meaning

The song "Days of Summer" by Starkid Productions is an emotional reminder of the value of friendships and love. This song captures a heartwarming conversation between four friends - Ron, Hermione, Harry, and Draco - who are all facing the prospect of separation. Despite the sadness that comes with leaving each other, the lyrics try to remain optimistic about the future. The chorus, "Don't wanna see you go; But it's not forever, not forever! Even if it was, you know that I would never let it get me down" expresses the strong bonds they share and how they will always look up to their memories of summer to keep themselves connected.

The lines, "The time we have to spend apart; Will keep us in each other's hearts" shows the emotional connection that ties these friends together, even when they are not around. Harry admits that he hopes to dream of the "good old days" in the nights to come, highlighting how memories of happy times can bring solace and comfort even in difficult moments. The lyrics then give us a glimpse into Draco's assertive character, who is determined to be optimistic about the future, signalling his personal character growth. those few notes at the beginning of Back to Hogwarts connect me more to Harry Potter than the actual Hedwig's Theme

@Ezel Francisco Oh. Not really sure about the extent of instrumentation AJ did, but these songs in particular were written solely by Darren I think... I know for certain that for AVPM, AJ wrote Different As Can Be, Voldemort is Going Down, etc. then for AVPS all music was solely written by Darren. I'm not sure if they directly collaborated in any one song in AVPM.

I think it's apparent in the music style though; AJ Holmes' songs are more....musical theater-y, whereas Darren's are more pop.

Ezel Francisco

@Mar Darren AND AJ wrote the songs but AJ is the one who did the instrumentals

Mar

@Ezel Francisco I agree, but Darren Criss wrote this song though...?

Ezel Francisco

AJ Holmes had just as much impact on the Harry Potter Fandom as much as John Williams does
