The band's influences collectively range everywhere from Jeff Buckley to The Cure to Queen, however Stars Down's music is very fresh, very new, and very much their own. Layered with melodic harmonies, and a stellar (no pun intended) ability to grab the crowd by the balls, the Stars Down sound is emotive and tortured, yet inspiring and hopeful, and in the unforgettable soaring vocals of Lukas Rossi, the listener ultimately finds redemption.
The creation of Stars Down is the brainchild of Lukas Rossi (vocals, guitar) whose songwriting career has spanned a fruitful seventeen years (Cleavage, Rise Electric, Rock Star Supernova). Lukas Rossi, native of Toronto, Ontario now transplanted to Los Angeles, California, shares with his former Cleavage band mates the accolade of winning the Best Unsigned Band contest at NXNE in 2000. Since that time, Lukas has been involved in projects that have brought him major media attention, and has been very successful—and prolific—as a songwriter through his publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing. In addition, Lukas is carving for himself a lucrative career as a producer.
No stranger to the stage and television, Lukas performed live at the 2006 Gemini awards, appeared on (and won) the CBS television series Rock Star: Supernova (9 million viewers in the US, another 9 million worldwide), as well as appearing on Ellen, Regis & Kelly, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Entertainment Tonight, and numerous appearances on ET Canada. Lukas has performed in arenas spanning the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Lukas Rossi and Stars Down are ready to bring their collective alternative rock talents--from heart-wrenching ballads to balls out rock n’ roll—to the hungry eyes and ears of music fans everywhere.

Stars Down Lyrics

I'm seeing black and I can't help but sing.
You think I'm strange maybe a little neurotic.
Losing my mind.
You can forget it, I got it.
Why would you fuck with me?
Have I lost it...Have I lost it
You just feel the fireflies.
You're dead to me.
You were a gift but not the prize.
Nothing with us was real,
Just comfortable..oh.
Can you read between the lines?
You're a puppet and I'm cutting all your strings.
You want to fly then you better earn your wings.
See now the time has come for her to meet her maker.
Give it time and I assure you I will break her.
I will break you...
..feel the fireflies.
You're dead to me.
You were a gift but not the prize.
Nothing with us was real,
Just comfortable.
Can you read between the lines?
I know I know you miss me.
But I don't give a damn.
I know I know you miss me.
I hope you understand.
I know I know you miss me.
But I don't give a damn.
I know I know you miss me.
But this is who I ..this is who I.. I.. am.
Feel the fireflies.
You're dead to me.
You were a gift but not the prize.
Nothing with us was real,
Just comfortable.
Now can you read between the lines?
You just feel the fireflies.
You're dead to me.
You were a gift but not the prize.
Nothing with us was real,
Just comfortable.
Oh..Can you read between the lines?
I hope you understand.
The lyrics to "Firefly" by Stars Down seem to be about a relationship that has ended and one person coming to terms with the fact that it wasn't real or meaningful. The singer is experiencing a change within themselves, feeling like they are losing their mind because they are seeing things in a different light. They address the other person directly, expressing that they were just "comfortable" with each other, and nothing between them was real. The singer even goes so far as to say that the other person is dead to them and that they were just a gift, not the prize. The tone is angry and cutting, with the singer saying they will break the other person. The song ends with the singer acknowledging that the other person misses them but they don't care.
One potential interpretation of this song is that the "fireflies" mentioned in the lyrics represent the illusions or false hopes that the singer had about the relationship. The other person was not the "prize" that the singer thought they were, and now that the relationship has ended, they can see things more clearly. The singer may feel like they were used in some way, or like they wasted their time pursuing something that was never meant to be. At the same time, they are also acknowledging their own role in the situation, feeling like they may have lost control and questioning their own sanity.
