The band has been playing venues in the Southeast since September 2003 and has built up a loyal fan base, selling close to 10,000 copies of their self-titled album.
Playing primarily in the Southeast, The War has had opportunities to open for nationally touring acts like Cheyenne Kimball, Teddy Geiger, Saving Jane, and various others.
The band has undergone a transition as they have recently completed their new EP, recorded with Ed Cash in Nashville, Tennessee. It is during the recording process that the band began to undertake an activist role in the world.
Music is about more than rock and roll for these guys, although their passion for the music is evident at every single live show. It is important to them to use their music as a platform to speak out for those who have no voice. Oppression and injustice are rampant in this world that we live in, and The War believes that we all have the ability to speak out against these things and bring about change.
They have been compared to Coldplay, The Fray, Keane, and Switchfoot sonically, and they normally describe themselves saying that they are “edgy rock with pop sensibility.” This new recording that The War has just completed sets a new tone of seriousness and the future looks bright for this heavily hopeful band.
Love Come Down
Starting Tuesday Lyrics

Have you ever locked yourself inside to find that there is nowhere left to hide?
Oh, oh
Waiting here where the waters meet,
The voices of a world in need,
All singing, "Love come down,"
The orphans cry and the widows weep,
Singing, "Love come down"
Have you ever seen a kingdom fall and wondered why you'd like to have it all?
Have you ever loved and lose the fight to the one you thought would save your life?
Waiting here where the waters meet,
The voices of a world in need,
All singing, "Love come down,"
Standing here in the burning streets,
The orphans cry and the widows weep,
Singing, "Love come down"
Have you ever been afraid to die, afraid of all the things you fight?
And if you lost the will to live, there is hope that's real
Waiting here where the waters meet,
The voices of a world in need,
All singing, "Love come down,"
Standing here in the burning streets,
The orphans cry and the widows weep,
Singing, "Love come down"
Waiting here where the waters meet,
The voices of a world in need,
All singing, "Love come down,"
Standing here in the burning streets,
The orphans cry and the widows weep,
Singing, "Love come down"
Starting Tuesday's song Love Come Down is about the power of love and the hope it brings even in the midst of suffering and despair. The lyrics ask poignant questions about the human experience such as the longing for freedom from past hurts that haunt memories, or the feeling of being trapped within oneself with nowhere to hide. The chorus is a powerful call for love to come down and meet the world's needs, from the orphans crying to the widows weeping in the burning streets. The imagery is intense and emotive, reflecting the deep human longing for a solution to pain and suffering.
The verses paint pictures of loss, fear, and hopelessness but are always followed by the chorus plea for love to answer the call of those who suffer. The song suggests that even in the midst of the worst of circumstances, love can be found and it can make a difference. The idea is that if one can connect to this universal love, it can lead to a renewal of hope and a reversal of the crushing weight of despair.

When I'm lookin' at you
I keep thinkin'
Why can't she be like you?
So I'm schemin'
I can't go on like this
Believin' that her love is true, oh
Standing on the dance floor
While she trickin'
You are all I want girl
She's a chicken
We might be together
But love is missing
Girl I want you
So what can we do, oh
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
I've got a girl, but you look good tonight
You look so good, baby
It's one on one tonight, tonight
Hear me baby, tonight
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
You shouldn't have to be alone tonight
It's one on one tonight, tonight
One on one baby, tonight
Now she's lookin' at me
But keep talkin'
Oh, now she tryna ice you
Let's start walkin'
Over on the dance floor
It's her fault but
What can she do?
Tell me baby, yeah
Girl if you're ready (I'm ready)
We can get it on (We can get it on)
I know where I went wrong
(She's where you went wrong)
With you is where I belong, belong
Girl if I could find the words to say
I gotta get away from a love
That kills me everyday
I'd gladly say to you
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
I've got a girl, but you look good tonight
It's one on one tonight, tonight (tonight, tonight)
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
You shouldn't have to be alone tonight
It's one on one tonight, tonight
Me and you, tonight
Baby, tonight
One on one
One on one
Oh ooh woo
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
I've got a girl, but you look good tonight
It's one on one tonight, tonight
Girl if it's alright
My favourite person
You need to come with me
We need to go somewhere tonight, tonight
Girl if it's alright
Let's go somewhere and get it on tonight
I've got a girl, but you look good tonight

The movie, Save The Last Dance brought me back to this classic jam. This song was playing during the last scene of Save The Last Dance. The 90's were just a magical and carefree time.
