After group head Beanie Sigel's incarceration in 2004, his relationship with the State Property camp went sour. Beanie complained that the rest of State Property was not showing him support while he was in jail, saying no one except Oschino from his group came to visit him. When the Roc-A-Fella split occurred, he also made the decision to move State Property to Dame's Dame Dash Music Group, but the rest of them (except for members Oschino and Omillio Sparks) opted to stay on Roc-A-Fella instead.
Through Dame, Beanie declared State Property disbanded until further notice. In response, several members of the group began saying they never chose to be in the group and that they wouldn't have needed it to sell records. State Property eventually officially broke up, and a future group album is not planned.
However, recent mixtape tracks by members of State Property have featured other members of the group, suggesting that at least some of the members, or former members, including Sigel, are still on good terms.
"State Property" is also the name of a clothing line bearing their group insignia, run by Sigel as a subsidiary of Rocawear. Sigel starred in the 2002 independent film State Property.

The song Temporary Relief by State Property manifests the gangsta lifestyle where the rappers are boastful about their riches, their guns, and their women. Peedi Crakk compares his skills to other rappers and goes on to rap about his wealth and his aspirations to buy a luxury car. The lyrics are filled with slang and vulgar language, which adds to the authenticity of the gangstarap genre.
The rap then shifts to Crakk's drug business where he describes the process he adopts to create a substance that bubbles like hot lava and his revolver which helps him deal with any unsafe situations. The second verse continues to perpetuate the lavish and violent lifestyle the rappers lead. They talk about their encounters with other corrupt people who intend to rob them or bring them down.
The song reflects the typical gangster rap theme where the rapper is proud of their wealth and violence, which they vicariously boast about through their lyrics as it is a part of their true nature.
