There are at least 3 bands named just "States": 1) A new indie pop-rock project from the US 2) A power pop band from the US 3) A french hip-hop act releasing some collaborations from the end of 00s.
1) "States" is a new project of Bryan Laurenson & Stephen Laurenson of Copeland and Mindy White of Lydia. Their first studio album, Room to Run, was released on October 18, 2011. On September 7 2011, they released a video of the song "Time Bomb" from their upcoming album on Youtube.
“There are those rare moments in life where things work out just the way you want them to. For us, States is exactly that. In the wake of moving on from our amazing pasts (both Copeland and Lydia), we were blessed by perfect timing.
What you hear now is the product of us experimenting and recording demos at home. Our goal is to get our songs out there as soon as possible, and to be heading into the studio soon after.
This is our future, and we are so excited for you guys to be here at the start of it. We will be writing, recording, playing, and sharing our progress with you all. We hope that you become a part of this new chapter in our lives, and we can’t wait to see you all soon.”

Or some facts to help us minimalize
As for this shelter I can plainly deny
But you can't kill time without injuring us
And we'll count up all the goods now
This is the girl with such fantastic eyes
Should cut our nails and wash up our feet
And enjoy the tedium that's yet been untried by me
And we'll count up all the goods now
There are more than you ever thought you'd own
Lift up your fingers and let's untie the string
Let's knot them all to see what this monster brings
'Cause it's real soothing with its tail in its knees
'Cause you can cry once without harrowing thus
And we'll count up all the goods now
Don't you know that they've come to be your host?
Didn't mean to skank your art
Should've never hung around us (dear)
Didn't want your money, oh baby now
When it lasted all day, we would blast it all day
We would bring it on and on
It's all in your head
The lyrics of States' song All in my head are quite enigmatic and can be interpreted in different ways. The first verse seems to suggest a conflict between truth and fiction, with the singer acknowledging that some of the things they say are not true, but they still have a value in minimizing something. The reference to a shelter that can be denied could either mean a literal or metaphorical one, as in a physical refuge or emotional protection. The line "you can't kill time without injuring us" could be interpreted as a warning against wasting time, which is a precious resource that affects others, or as an admission of how time can hurt us in different ways. The counting up of "all the goods" suggests a desire to take inventory of what is valuable or important in life, but also highlights the question of what is truly worth counting.
The second verse introduces a character, "the girl with such fantastic eyes," who could be interpreted as a lover or a muse, someone who inspires the singer's artistic creation but who also demands a certain level of hygiene and discipline ("cut our nails and wash up our feet"). The tedium that has yet been untried suggests a desire for new experiences and challenges, but also warns against the dangers of stagnation or repetition. Again, the counting up of all the goods emphasizes the need to take stock of what we have and what we still lack.
The chorus, "It's all in your head," could be seen as a mantra of self-doubt or self-empowerment, depending on the interpretation. It could suggest that all the conflicts and dilemmas portrayed in the song are mere figments of the singer's imagination, or that they are the result of overthinking and introspection. Alternatively, it could suggest that everything that matters in life exists only in our thoughts and perceptions, and that we should pay attention to what goes on in our minds.
Overall, the lyrics of All in my head create a dreamy and introspective vibe that invites the listener to reflect on the nature of truth, creativity, and personal growth. The references to counting and inventory suggest a desire for order and control, but also highlight the arbitrary and ephemeral nature of value and worth.

Pack up your ego. You gotta plane to catch.
Another round in Reno to kill the loneliness.
Hold onto the wall. Stranger city. Waking to
the call. Feeling guilty. It’s all in my head.
I’m pulling the thread. Lights are deceiving.
Was it just a dream? Trying to recollect
it. Little figurine. This is not my home. I
can guarantee. Learning lessons from my
integrity. It’s all in my head. I’m pulling the
thread. And I never wanted anything to do
with you or this scattered memory that I’m
viewing. Leaving everything. Ignore delusion.
It was an accident. I made it in my head.

I hope like crazy that they tour soon
