There are at least 3 bands named just "States": 1) A new indie pop-rock project from the US 2) A power pop band from the US 3) A french hip-hop act releasing some collaborations from the end of 00s.
1) "States" is a new project of Bryan Laurenson & Stephen Laurenson of Copeland and Mindy White of Lydia. Their first studio album, Room to Run, was released on October 18, 2011. On September 7 2011, they released a video of the song "Time Bomb" from their upcoming album on Youtube.
“There are those rare moments in life where things work out just the way you want them to. For us, States is exactly that. In the wake of moving on from our amazing pasts (both Copeland and Lydia), we were blessed by perfect timing.
What you hear now is the product of us experimenting and recording demos at home. Our goal is to get our songs out there as soon as possible, and to be heading into the studio soon after.
This is our future, and we are so excited for you guys to be here at the start of it. We will be writing, recording, playing, and sharing our progress with you all. We hope that you become a part of this new chapter in our lives, and we can’t wait to see you all soon.”

You better fill it up,
We're driving 'til the sun gets tired
Forget about the worrying,
It don't concern us anymore
When it comes down to it,
Nothing's gonna stop us with the pedal at the floor
Doesn't even matter 'cause we like it better singing
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
We're out to get what we desire
But they think it's so bizarre
And that it's adding to the fire
We're finding out a better way
And learning more than we were told of before
Don't believe in what they're saying
'Cause the fame is really what they're coming for
Labeled as a sucker in the new generation
Doesn't even matter 'cause we like it better singing
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Maybe we'll learn a bit
Don't need advice when I can live it out, live it out
And the lines on the road are only to escape (from it)
Hey, we're doing what we wanted
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Hey, we're living like we ought to
I'll take my life where I'm supposed to
Living like we're supposed to
Living like we're supposed to
Hey, like we're supposed to
Hey, like we're supposed to

At 52, I immigrated to my ancestral homelands in Central Europe, leaving my native Texas. I will retire here eventually, as well as become a citizen. Great national healthcare and public transportation, as well as very high walkability, are among the draws. In the EU, one can easily travel inexpensively to more than 25 countries without going through passport checks.

I am just a few months short of being your age right now, lol, and I have been looking at doing the same thing. when I was in college I have been to a few European countries and I have not forgotten what they where like even though the timeline for the visits where short. the longest one when I include flight time was just 14 days and we only saw 4 countries, Spain, lower part of France, Italy, and the Vatican. For me because of being able to easily visit country to country, national healthcare, public transportation, and high walkability as well as bicycle ability are just some of the reasons of why I would like to end up in Europe. I have been trying to make up my mind between 5 countries when it comes to my ancestral homelands because thanks to the trips that I mentioned I have been able to step foot into 3 out of 5 of them, and I couldn't help love and enjoy what I saw along with the people that I ran into.
