In 2000, after living in New Hampshire, he moved back down to Massachusetts to enroll in the audio production program at Boston's New England Institute of the Arts. That same year, Selektah started putting out mixtapes, namely his Spell My Name Right series. With his mixtapes and DJ gigs, Selektah never passed up the opportunity to champion local hip-hop from Boston and the surrounding New England area. In particular, Selektah was responsible for introducing fellow Lawrence, MA, native Termanology to the world, helming his Hood Politics mixtapes in the mid- to late 2000s. Managing all of these tasks became much easier when he established in 2003 his own PR/marketing firm ShowOff.
In 2006, he turned ShowOff Records into an official record label, with Termanology & Producer DC's Out the Gate LP as its first release. By this time, though, Selektah's prestige had grown considerably. His radio shows were playing in several places, from London to Mobile, AL; he produced beats for many artists, including Foxy Brown, AZ, and Joell Ortiz; and most importantly, the DJ dished out tons of mixtapes with big name and up-and-coming artists, such as Nas, Q-Tip, John Legend, Royce da 5'9" (The Bar Exam, co-hosted with DJ Premier), and Saigon.
Statik dropped his first LP, Spell My Name Right in 2007, and his follow up Stick 2 the Script album in 2008. Other artists he has produced for following that include Talib Kweli, Bun B, Styles P, Consequence, Freeway, M.O.P., and Jadakiss. Rockstar games reached out for Statik in late 2008 to enlist him as DJ and producer of the Grand Theft Auto IV update "the Lost and Damned", as well as 2 songs for Midnight Club: Los Angeles.
In March 2008, Selektah and Saigon recorded All In A Day's Work in a 24 hour period, and was acclaimed by critics. He also DJed for Q-tip on his 2009 Renassaince World Tour. Statik just dropped his third studio album, 100 Proof: The Hangover on Showoff/Brick Records.
In 2010 Statik Selektah released his fourth album, Population Control, on Duck Down Records to critical acclaim boasting features from a mix of up and coming MC's and well established veterans.
Statik's fifth album, Extended Play, was released on June 18, 2013, and features Joey Bada$$, Action Bronson, Raekwon, Sean Price, Mac Miller, Black Thought, Noreaga, Lecrae, Lil' Fame, Styles P, Mike Posner, Termanology, Freddie Gibbs, Bun B, Joell Ortiz, Posdnuos of De La Soul, Talib Kweli, Troy Ave., Hit-Boy, Smif-N-Wessun, Flatbush Zombies, and many many more.

This my mothafuckin' game man
I don't give a fuck what nobody says no more
No more playing the sidelines (yeah)
Albanian style: rock leathers in the sand
Iโll shoot my cousin for
Nothing: dominant man
- on some normal shit
Straight from Skopje, Macedonia
The floral lit
Licorice liquor, one cube, a touch of water
Watch it mix
Turn white like the Duchess' daughter
Iโm in the corner puffing Ganja
With the musky odor
Destination back of your throat - cup of soda
Uh this is Bam Bam Bigelow
Queens to Asbury Park connect: Figaro
My uniform Carhartt sweats and
Gore-tex athletic horses on
My chest and on my short sets
The Leslie Nielsen of the weed and the words
This is Action Bronsolinni, 33 and the 3rd
Kid naked gun, the serial is scratched off
Armed like Rocket in his prime, blast off
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
Push your seat back the
Ricky Henderson of rap jets hat
Underneath a little blubber lie the 6 pack
Summer time I cop the musket
With the kick back
Then sit back, stand up, eyes low, hit that
This happens continuously throughout
The night now my eyes are like diamonds
Thatโs looking blue-ish in the light
Like a prism, shooting out hope, honor
And optimism
Never stop it till we're coastal
On the aqua mission
Reach my hand in the water and grab a tuna
Silhouette you see reflection of light
Right off the Mezzaluna
Thatโs a half moon, wavy like my manโs fade
The European carry-all color: tan, suede
Handmade, hand blades, carve
Up your features, iโm a creature
Section 39 - Iโm in the bleachers
Fiends get washed up like
Turtles on the beaches
Itโs mating season make the
Verbal for your speakers
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
Il prosciutto legend, Phil Rizzuto
Marijuana like the pussy, I keep it crudo
Thatโs raw, now I declare war
You in the womenโs league
I show you how a man score
Look at my beard and my body like a grizzly
Iโm shoulder pressing 3 plates
Obama - EBT i'm a G supermarket sweepstakes
Still drinking vintage out the bottle
With the cheese plate
The Derek Harper with the low Caesar
Flow fever
More than likely digging in your ho's beaver
Drug smoke to my neck just like a turkey
Dough dirty, make your brother do
A curtsy no mercy, van Buren cop Hershey
Square Tyson and Iโm in the
Mountains eating rare bison clam chowder
You ain't fucking with this man power
Straight from Queens
Where we're known to make your plans sour
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
On and on, push it through, we won
Never stop till the day we there
The lyrics to Statik Selektah's song "Cocoa Butter" showcases the confident and unapologetic persona of Action Bronson. The song opens with Bronson declaring that this is his game and he no longer cares about what anyone else says or thinks. He refers to his Albanian roots and the boldness of his personality. He is willing to do anything for his family, even if it means shooting his own cousin. Despite this violent imagery, he emphasizes that he is just a normal person who visits family without any issues.
Bronson's verse continues with references to his Macedonian heritage and his love for licorice liquor. He describes the process of mixing the drink, which turns white like the Duchess' daughter. He then paints a vivid picture of himself in the corner smoking Ganja (marijuana) with a musky odor. He refers to himself as "Bam Bam Bigelow," a professional wrestler known for his size and strength. He also mentions his connection between Queens and Asbury Park, and his characteristic attire of Carhartt sweats and Gore-tex athletic horses.
The chorus is repeated, emphasizing the determination to keep moving forward until reaching the desired goal. Bronson's second verse presents him as the Ricky Henderson of rap, referencing the former baseball player known for his speed and base-stealing ability. He mentions concealing his physical condition with a "little blubber lie" covering his six-pack abs. He describes his habits of buying a musket with a kickback during the summertime. The continuous smoking of marijuana is mentioned, highlighting Bronson's diamond-like eyes. He speaks of shooting out hope, honor, and optimism like a prism.
The verse continues with references to water, tuna, and the Mezzaluna (a half-moon shaped knife used in the kitchen). Bronson's confident and ruthless persona emerges as he mentions the European carry-all color, hand blades, and carving up someone's features. He refers to himself being in Section 39, possibly a reference to a specific stadium, asserting his presence and dominance. He compares fiends getting washed up to turtles on the beaches during mating season, implying that he has the power to control and manipulate others.
Bronson then references Phil Rizzuto, a legendary baseball player, and likens marijuana to raw, unfiltered pleasure. He challenges his opponents, suggesting they are in the women's league while he shows them how a man scores. He boasts about his physical strength, mentioning his beard and body like a grizzly bear. He references Derek Harper, a former basketball player known for his low Caesar haircut, implying that his flow is smooth and unstoppable.
The verse concludes with references to drug smoke and dough (money), indicating that he is willing to take risks and make his mark. He mentions Van Buren, a street name, and Hershey, exploring different locations in his lyrics. He declares his power and dominance, claiming he can make plans sour. The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the determination to keep pushing forward until achieving success.
