Meghan Linsey originally met Joshua Scott Jones when she was working at a Nashville karaoke bar. Not only did they become a couple but they went on to become the successful Country music duo, Steel Magnolia. The first song the pair wrote together was the break up tune Edge of Goodbye. Speaking with Songfacts.com about the song in a 2011 interview, Joshua said, "It's kind of ironic the first song that we wrote together and it's a breakup song. We keep everything out there. We don't really lie about anything."
After becoming the top winner on Can You Duet, the duo signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records, and released its debut single "Keep On Lovin' You" in August 2009. A second single, "Just By Being You (Halo and Wings)," followed in July 2010.
A chance meeting at a karaoke bar in Nashville's Printers Alley in 2006 led Meghan Linsey and Joshua Scott Jones to form Steel Magnolia, the vocal duo which won the second season of CMT's Can You Duet talent competition. Linsey and Jones' very first vocal collaboration took place that night with an impromptu version of Air Supply's "I'm All Out of Love." A native of Ponchatoula, La., Linsey began performing at an early age. By the time she was 15, she had already opened shows for Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, Gary Allan, Blake Shelton and others. Just days after graduating from high school in 2004, she moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music, supporting herself as the host at a local karaoke club. Jones, a singer-songwriter from Charleston, Ill., also began performing at an early age and later moved to Los Angeles, performing at clubs such as the Viper Room, the Knitting Factory and the Lava Lounge. He eventually returned to Illinois for a period of time before relocating to Nashville. As winners of Can You Duet, Steel Magnolia was rewarded with a contract at Big Machine Records, the Nashville-based label whose roster includes Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram, Trisha Yearwood and others.
2) Steel Magnolia are a North Carolina based traditional bluegrass band, who released the album, Something Blue in 2008.

Traded in the hatchback
Can't make the payment,
But I'm not worried 'bout that
'Cause I'm bulletproof
Went and got my hair cut,
Got a tattoo
Wasn't even thinkin' 'bout you
'Cause I'm bulletproof
Well I could stand in the middle of a thunderstorm
Holding a lightning rod on your roof
This could never shatter me,
Don't smother me with sympathy
What makes you think I'm not over you?
Oh, I'm bulletproof
Gonna learn to drink me, some tequila
Light up a Marlboro Red
Dance myself brand new
In my high heels shoes
Well I could stand in the middle of a thunderstorm
Holding a lightning rod on your roof
This could never shatter me,
Don't smother me with sympathy
What makes you think I'm not over you?
Oh, I'm bulletproof
Yeah are you boys lined up
Kiss me for a quarter
I'll be a freak show, hero
Shoot me down if you wanna
'Cause this fragile little girl's
Got a new suit of armor
Well I could stand in the middle of a thunderstorm
Holding a lightning rod on your roof
This could never shatter me,
Don't smother me with sympathy
What makes you think I'm not over you?
Oh, this could never shatter me,
Don't smother me with sympathy
What makes you think I'm not over you?
Oh, I'm bulletproof
(Bulletproof)
I'm bulletproof
The lyrics to Steel Magnolia's song Bulletproof speak to the strength and resilience of a person who has just gone through a breakup. The singer in the song has made some drastic changes in her life, such as trading in her car and getting a tattoo, to indicate that she is moving on and not concerned with her ex-partner's opinions of her. She feels invincible, like she could stand in the middle of a thunderstorm holding a lightning rod and still not be broken. Despite the breakup, the singer is determined to live her life on her own terms and is not willing to accept sympathy or pity from anyone who believes she is not over her former love.
The lyrics to this song suggest that the singer is choosing to focus on herself and her own happiness, rather than worry about what others think. She is unapologetically living her life and is finding strength in her newfound independence. The song speaks to anyone who has ever gone through a tough breakup and the feelings of empowerment that can come with moving on and taking control of one's own life.

Such great song and strong vocal performances. I wish they were still making music as a duo.
@paulatcvs
Top to bottom, Steel Magnolia's one and only CD is great. Shame we will never hear some great songs I'm sure they would have had on a 2nd CD
@williamcraig2869
What a beautifully heartfelt and humorous tribute to the glory days of vaudeville brought to you courteously presented by country’s dynamic duo of Steel Magnolia.

How in the world did this song not chart high up? What in the world was keeping this down?
@slstephlane
When I heard this song for the first time I realized that pursuing a relationship with my emotionally physically and verbally abusive sister was worthless. I would stand through her thunderstorms and I would hold that lightening rod and take her abuse like my mom taught me to, and I finally had enough being her victim. This fragile little girl walked away and found people who did love her.
@Pervonatron
