In Dutch speaking countries he is best known for his 1991 hit record ‘Papa’ - about a father/son relation. Since then he has made several albums and has also become quite popular amongst the Afrikaner population of South-Africa where he recorded several songs with crossovers between his European style and the tribal sounds of Southern Africa.
In 2004 he published as a poet. He is still performing and developing new material.

The first verse of Stef Bos's song "Ik Mis Jou" describes the morning setting, with the night turning to grey and the new day breaking in with the wind blowing and the singer hearing the name of the person they miss. The second verse portrays a feeling of numbness and chaos, with the daylight shouting and a whirlwind raging through the singer's head. Despite all of this, it is quiet next to them, and they miss this person, questioning whether that person misses them too. As the song progresses, the singer admits to not knowing what to do or say, where to go, or what path to take after losing this person. As the night comes, the singer waits for no one and simply misses the person they lost.
The third verse adds a dream sequence where the singer sees the person they miss with someone else, and the image slowly fades away as they miss them even more. The song ends with the singer waiting in the stillness of the night, missing this person so much that they feel at a loss. The lyrics convey a sense of deep emotional longing and profound loss, as though the singer's world is incomplete without this other person.
