The Polish song Adieu by Stefan Witas seems to be a farewell to a loved one as the singer leaves the country. The first two lines mean "Fate is falling down, taking me away from here; I leave this country again." The next two lines show that the singer still hopes to hear from the loved one with "If you miss me, write a few words." However, the singer also shows that he has to leave, even though it hurts his soul with "Even though I hurt my soul, I have to leave; sad days are coming." The last two lines of the first verse seems to imply that the singer had a difficult time believing in the power of the loved one's love.

The chorus shows that the singer is saying goodbye, but also acknowledging that the reality may not live up to the beauty of the dream, and that his love may soon fade from memory.

The song also includes a verse where the singer says that the loved one is like a star among great women, and he is nothing in comparison. However, he still professes his love for the loved one, saying that he has fire in his heart, and he loves her.
